I've mainly collected vintage. Now, I'm doing modern as well. A little less than a year ago, I bought a 2017 bowman chrome box and pulled a blue refractor Ronald Acuna auto /150. I put it in a top loader and it sat on my desk for months since I didn't know too much about him. It was during spring training in March where I was starting hear some hype on Acuna. I decided to check the value of the card and was surprised that it was going for so much. I sent it in for grading the next day and I'm glad I still have it.

Still kicking myself, but my first big hit was a 2009 Bowman Mike Trout Auto, the crown jewel of card collecting right now. I was so caught up in Bogaerts mania as a Sox fan and really loved Buxton's upside so I traded my 9/10 Trout for a 9.5 Bogaetts 11 Base auto and 2013 Buxton base auto. Still hurts.

As stated before by other members, the thrill of pulling 1989 Upper Deck Griffey and 1989 Hoops David Robinson Series 1 as a 14 year old will be something Iíll never forget....However this bad boy is by far the biggest hit Iíve ever had. Itís long gone.

Probably 1999 Bowmanís Best auto of Edgerrin James. Pulled it on New Years Eve, ended up selling it for $150 a few weeks later.

Baseball
2013 Bowman Chrome Lucky Redemption Yusiel Puig pulled and sold it at the right time for $900.

Football
2003 Bowman Chrome Red Refractor Auto /10 of Carson Palmer. Sold for $600.

I really don't think either hit really changed the way I collected at the time. I have taken a lot of breaks in the hobby throughout the years and in fact, when I pulled the Puig it was when I decided to take a break regardless. Bought two boxes as was making the switch from one hobby to another and figured this was my last hurrah. It was a nice cash in and helped pay for my next hobby.

The exact card is owned by Blowouts' very own, GOWIFB. So I'm using his/her scan. Believe it or not, at the time it was a 300-400 dollar card but of course I hung onto it until the hype for the set died down and sold it for a fraction of that a few years later only to wish I never sold it today :

I've learned me lesson and haven't sold any of my big hits since. Of course my tune may change if I ever hit a big prospect card.

Back in 1992 or 1993, bought a pack of 1986-87 Fleer for $75. Pulled a Michael Jordan RC. I then bought a pack of 1987-88 Fleer and pulled an MJ 2nd year card! Centering was off on both cards, though. Years later I had the RC graded by BGS. Came back a 7.5, mainly because of the centering. Corners were 9.5. Still have it.

Back in 1996 or so, went into Ollies and they had loads of 1993 Classic Best Minor for $5 a box. I didn't have money then so my step father purchased a box for me, yes one box and pulled my very first autograph......

Around 2003, I went to one of my favorite shops and they had one box sitting on their discount table for $25. Went home but it stayed on my mind. Went back a few weeks later and bought it and pulled another one.

I got out of packs before autographs and game used were easy to pull. I pulled a George Gervin signed card out of some random pack from Mejers. After I found EBay I stopped buying packs and just bought Braves cards. So, years of childhood pack busting and nothing to show for it lmao.

^^^^^jeter #'d the cards out of 1200 and 1206

first card i ever pulled that felt like it was a real big card was when i was 15 and pulled a keith van horn some ud3 rookie insert that booked for $100 back then

first real big card i ever pulled was a 2005 sp authentic cadillac williams patch auto /25, traded it for about $1200 worth of cards

best card i ever pulled in my opinion was out of a blaster box in 2013, a 2012 topps archives sandy koufax auto that i sold for $1000

My first decent hit was a Ted William's jersey card from 2002 great of the game. When I got back into collecting in 2011, pulled a Harper Blue refractor out of Bowman.

Not the first good pull but two years ago I got a redemption in a blaster box pack of 2016 Topps Archives (I think that's what it was) and the redemption card was for a Griffey Jr on-card AUTO on a reproduction of his 89 Topps Update RC. It came in the mail fast, was perfect mint, and the AUTO is nice, not a lazy scribble. No idea how much it's "worth" but that's ok, it's not for sale!
