Default Where to start - Walking Dead!

My wife and I are huge fans of the TV Show. What would you guys recommend or where can i start to get up to date with the Comic version?
I obviously cannot afford to buy Comic 1 up to now to get updated and
maybe in the meantime I can get my wife hooked on the comic so that i can keep buying them - LOL

Buy compendium 1 & 2

That cover about 96 issues

You can then buy the next two or three paperback

And finally the last 12 or so issues.

buy Compendium 1 and 2. That will get you to issue 96 (I think). After that, buy the trades up to current.

Ha, great minds think alike huh Cisco

Compendium 1 & 2 both cover 48 issues each, so I'm just confirming what everyone else is saying: it'll get you through issue 96. Then you'd need to get The Walking Dead Book 9 & 10. That'll get you to issue 120.

After that, it's like Cisco69 said, just another 13 (current issue is 133) to be all caught up. Though, by then, Book 11 may be out.

If you wanted to skip what you are already sort of familiar with, you could just start at Compendium 2 since the show has caught up to the beginning of that compendium. I highly recommend starting from issue 1 though because a lot of characters are different between the comic and the show and you'll get a much stronger sense of what's going on in compendium 2 if you don't skip anything.

ok most of the way through Compendium I and BOY is it very good and different that the show for sure.... I won't say anything.... I went to SKYBound and while I already have compendium 2 it recommends:

The Walking Dead Compendium One - Issue #1-48
The Walking Dead Compendium Two - Issue #49-96
The Walking Dead Vol. 17: Something to Fear - Issue #97-102
The Walking Dead Vol. 18: What Comes After - Issue #103-108
The Walking Dead Vol. 19: March to War - Issue #109-114
The Walking Dead Vol. 20: All Out War Part One - Issue #115-120
The Walking Dead Vol. 21: All Out War Part Two - Issue #121-126

This takes me up to 126... I just started getting the Comics so my first
Walking Dead starts at #134.

I checked out the Skybound deal and the price isn't too bad. 140 bucks for issue 1 to 126.

Compendium 1 and 2 way to go. Then just go with the traditional trades.. Easiest way to go. IF you prefer Amazon they are probably cheaper on their but most of us (at least myself) would rather pay the few extra bucks and give the money to a LCS or the Skybound page. Compendiums are awesome

I understand about supporting my LCS its just that I live out in the middle of nowhere and it's a long haul to any shop...
