Default Black Panther set

Do we know if there is anything in the works for a set for Black Panther?

I would expect that they would do one, but the fact that Thor just released months after that movie means we might need to wait awhile. Off the top of my head, I think every Marvel U movie since Iron Man 1 has had a set.

Has anyone received any information that would confirm this release? sell sheet? Artists who turned in sketch cards?

This movie releases in 2 weeks and looks like it will be a winner!

I've seen guys showing off WIP Panther cards for an official release. Don't remember who though.

No mention of a card set yet, which does seem odd.

Check the bottom of this blog post:

We look forward to 2018 and all of the amazing collectible experiences that will bring with it. You can already find Thor: Ragnarok in hobby stores now, and look forward to our upcoming Daredevil and Black Panther sets that will be released in stores soon, as well as our upcoming Agent Carter set that will be exclusive to Upper Deck e-Pack!

Interesting...Agent Carter!

I wish UD would negotiate the rights to sell Marvel epacks to more countries.

Black Panther advance ticket sales exceeding all previous superhero movies

http://ew.com/movies/2018/01/31/blac...resale-record/

If the auto list is solid, this set could be HUGE!!!

Batman vs. Superman was the previous record holder!? Seriously? Were DC executives buying up tickets and throwing them in the trash?

I think it had more to do with the previous success of Batman films than anything else. People were intrigued by seeing the two big DC characters (Batman& Superman) in the same movie. I was one of those intrigued guys.

Advance ticket sales may not be the best indicator of quality.

Deadpool was not part of the "Marvel Universe" of movies since it was owned by Fox. Now that everything is under one roof we may see a Deadpool set at some point (highly doubt for Deadpool 2 though.)

Wait until Infinity War!

I'm super stoked for BP though and the soundtrack is amazing as well. Marvel Studios can do no wrong IMO. The TV shows on the other hand...haha, those are hit or miss.

Infinity War will be the one everyone complains about.

With 72 reported characters participating, even a dozen of them will be a small enough sample that people will say it's not enough. Almost destined to fail in the court of public opinion.

STILL waiting on order information on Black Panther AND Daredevil. I'm hoping the SRP's are closer to Thor Ragnarok and not Guardians.

Well Renner, Hemsworth, Evans, Stan, Bautista, Saldana,Gillan, and Smulders (if she is in it) should be givens for that + whoever they get sign for Black Panther.

I'd say Josh Brolin, Scarlett, and Elizabeth Olsen should be UD's primary focus on new signers if RDJ isn't in their plans.

As for Black Panther

Chadwick Boseman
Michael B. Jordan
Lupita Nyong'o
Danai Gurira
Martin Freeman
Daniel Kaluuya
Andy Serkis
Angela Bassett
Forest Whitaker
Letitia Wright
Winston Duke
Sterling K. Brown
John Kani

are the main folks from this movie UD should be hitting. Which any mix of 6-7 of them would be a very solid product IMO
I think getting Boseman of course propels the set forward regardless of rest but if not I think they'd have to get Lupita, Serkis, Freeman, Whitaker and Brown for people to really want to bust this.
One positive for the potential of this set is majority of the names have all signed for other card releases before so its not like they'd be new to it. What's interesting though is none of them have signed for a UD set before.

Personally, I really want a John Kani autograph

If they can get big new signers people will be happy. It's unrealistic to think they are going to get 10+ big names, but reasonable to expect them to get 4 new main cast signers instead of just more of the same main cast that signed for previous sets

I agree. I would add that including previous signers on dual, triple auto cards is cool, but that the single autos should focus on new signers. (Kind of like Rookie cards) That said, I would like to see a Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr Strange auto on a more traditional style card. (Though at this point I'd like any Cumberbatch auto; especially that shadowbox auto card on e-pack)

As for new signers for Avengers: Infinity War; I'd love to see any of these in no particular order;

Bradley Cooper as Rocket (Signed for several other card sets)
Vin Diesel as Groot (Signed for Riddick a long time ago)
Josh Brolin as Thanos (Signs through TTM)
Scarlett Johannson as Black Widow (Seems like a real longshot)
Paul Rudd as Ant-Man (Signed for Parks and Recreation)
Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlett Witch (No idea, thinking Longshot)
Paul Bettany as Vision (No idea)
Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther (No Idea)
Anthony Mackie as Falcon (No idea)
Mark Ruffalo as Hulk (Seems like long shot)
Tom Holland as Spiderman (No idea)

If the autos include Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner as the single autos for the third time for the avengers sets, then it would feel anticlimactic. Just my humble two cents.

This was not meant to keep hijacking the Black Panther thread, as that looks like a great flick, and hopefully a great set.

Mackie does Wizard World shows. Not sure why they can't get him to sign. Clearly he is willing to sit there and sign for an hour or two. Rudd is doing a private signing in March, and they have Ruffalo under contract for annunscheduled date. There are signers that just won't sign for card sets though...

Yep...I wonder how expensive it would be to get all of those folks to sign cards for one set as well. I've read that some of the big celebrities make between $250,000-$500,000 per convention. Not a bad paycheck for a couple days.

I think Chadwick Boseman is a requirement for this set. If not, I could see this set failing just like Spider-Man Homecoming did.

I watched the film earlier and quite enjoyed it. It's a shame UD can't get the card set out around the movie's theatrical release
