Default Who are some of your favorite guitarists?

Not in ranking or anything, but who are some of your favorites and why? I'll do one just to get things rolling.

Stevie Ray Vaughn - Could simply listen to him play all day long. I swear the guitar was a part of him, everything he plays is so smooth and effortless. Made a huge impact in blues when all sorts of new genre's were starting to surface and blues was starting to lose steam.

George Harrison. Hands down, he's the guitarist I love listening to the most. I grew up listening to his 1987 solo record "Cloud Nine" and just fell in love with him. That solo record was my introduction to The Beatles. I was just ten years young and had no idea what I was in for.

I always liked the sounds East Bay Ray came up with in the Dead Kennedys.

Mike Campbell from Tom Petty's Heartbreakers has got to be one of the most under rated guitar players ever. He plays exactly what the song needs and I believe he could have been a "metal God" if he had so chosen. I could listen to the end of Runnin' Down a Dream again and again.

Joe Satriani for instrumentals

James Murphy (from Testament, Death, Obituary, Cancer, etc) for albums

Nuno Bettencourt for style I would most like to play like.

I would have to say Jimmy Hendrix, Chuck Berry and Carlos Santana for me. Here are a good thread on this subject;
