I'm not saying the Rookie Contract change was bad.

Who voted on changing the way it was all structured? The owners and players right? And who would be getting the shaft due to the new slot rule? The players that will be coming in to the league in the future drafts.

In other words, those with no vote at the time! That is why the NFLPA agreed to it. It is made up of current players that have already signed their fat old style rookie contracts. They are now vets and are immune to the changes. Their thinking is "Hey, more money in the pool to pay me when my contract is out"

And the owners? No more hard negotiating post draft and millions upon millions being guaranteed to a player who has yet to take a snap in the NFL.

Look at all the record setting contracts for Vets now
Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Jimmy Garoppolo, Khalil Mack, Aaron Donald, Alex Smith, Todd Gurley ETC.

Those huge contracts are really only made possible by shifting so much of the cap dollars from the rookie pool to the vet side.

Of course the vets rig the system to their advantage, that's not something new. Do your time and make your money later, like they do.

Bell has discovered that's he's not worth nearly as much as he thought he was.

James Conner has played just as well as Bell did, and the Steelers offense has been just as good.

Running backs are easier to find than QBs, so I would think paying them the same is not warranted.

Why would anyone want to fight in the trenches with this guy?

Nothing screams well adjusted and mature like doing the high school mean girls act on social media.
