He's 19 years old doing an interview on sportscenter, nervous like any other kid would be. He probably hasn't had a chance to breathe since getting drafted. And his current bank account situation has quite the argument against him staying in school and risking a bad injury.

The fact that the earpiece was uncomfortable and it was event sponsored by panini should be enough to give the kid a pass

Wiggins comes across as an extremely likeable person.

Because every teenager should be a robot with perfect responses on TV...

Fail thread. Wiggins spoke fairly normally, at least what passes for normal these days.

I had no opinion on this kid before this interview

After it ,I like him
Hope he does well

The reporter to me came across as an idiot more than wiggins

I mean what is the kid supposed to say he is a cav until he hears different

i thought he handled himself very well, considering his situation with the cavs, maybe being traded maybe not etc etc, the reporter (while doing what reporters are supposed to do) cam off as the idiot in this interview

Yeah, exactly.

It's rare to hear a young basketball player give honest, heartfelt albeit awkward answers rather than trained and rehearsed BS.

Good for him.

Reporter: How does it feel to know that because of a technicality you must stay with the team instead of potentially having traded you already. ..
Wiggins (thinks to self what a dick, I'm not answering that) responds: sorry I didn't hear you, what was the question.

Not everyone comes into the league like Shaq with a tv personality. I'd be extremely nervous on ESPN we should give him a break

#1.. whoever set that interview up should be fired

#2... If I were Panini, I would refuse to let any of my spokes people EVER interview for ESPN live again.

Wiggins was thrown to the wolves, had a time delay on the feed, making difficult question seem that much more difficult.

I think Wiggins handled himself well, he probably didn't realize he had the pull to be able to get out of that interview, but he should have.

Honestly I am a bit puzzled as to why he and lebron haven't spoken once

Really shows that lebron had no plans for andrew on this team

Funny, the above sentence makes lebron sound like the GM, guy comes over and already changes all of the cavs plans

You better win it all lebron, otherwise your career will go down in shambles

I don't see how you can't atleast call andrew and congratulate him.
Pathetic

I'm willing to bet Lebron is basically running the Cavs lol.

That is really the only thing that can be taken from the interview ... There's only 2 scenarios:

1. If Lebron wants Wiggins on the team - Then he's a pretty bad leader for not even talking w/ him after he signed here ... I mean the guy is only your 2nd, maybe most valuable teammate for the rest of your career - And you don't even ask him how he's doing? Give him advice on the season or his offseason workouts? Hang out to get to know him?

2. Lebron didn't talk w/ him because he expects him to be traded ... Although even if this is the case, I definitely think less of Lebron as a teammate/leader if he hasn't even spoken w/ one his best CURRENT teammates nearly a month after he signed on ... Leaders get to know who they'll be playing with ASAP when they join a new team - At least I think they should

you are correct and I just don't get it. How could you not speak to the number one pick in the draft? That is pretty messed up to me.

I think Lebron didn't like hearing this kid has the potential to be the next big thing and is being selfish and wants the attention to be all on him. Doesn't want someone completely under his wing. What a tool move by Lebron, really bro? The least you can do is give the kid a call and congratulate him…

As for the interview, the questions were terrible. Wiggins could've given that guy a hard time. Do the Cavs want you? Well they did draft me number 1 overall dip stick. This kid is a rookie and these dang questions were ridiculous. Leave him alone until the Love thing is settled.

He's a kid, more nerves than anything else IMO.

On another note, I continue to feel strongly that the Cavs should keep Wiggins. It's going to be a major mistake letting him go.

Really, nobody else sees the PR sh!tstorm from this interview?

Just signed a multimillion dollar with a team, goes on National television saying basically that his team doesn't want him and he wants to go somewhere he is wanted.

Then, runs along and throws teammate under the bus for not reaching out to him.

I get it, he is young, nervous was having issues - but that was a TERRIBLE interview.

TERRIBLE.
