None of that makes sense though. He has every right to use his no trade clause as long as he wants. People can get upset about it, but that's on them, not Stanton

What is your feeling on a No Trade Clause then? If the team wants to trade him he just has to forgo the clause in his signed contract because the ownership said so? That makes him a villain and prima dona? He gave them some teams he would say Yes... It's on the Marlins to deal with it.

I can assure you nobody in Miami wants him traded. They will still show up and cheer for him and Boo the management/ownership if needed.

Miami is already blowing up the team with or without him.

You really think fans in cities he isnít going to go to are going to boo him? I think thatís kind of silly.

He's supposedly the only reason people come to the stadium, but they'll turn on him if he stays?

They're not spending money either way, so why not trade Yelich or Ozuna for better prospects?

Cards have issued a statement that Stanton has informed them he won't waive his no-trade clause to come to St. Louis. They're officially out.

While I wanted him I never thought it was going to happen.

Marlins aren’t happy. We were offering the best players and taking on most money. Reportedly.

This pleases me as I wasn't looking forward to my Luke Weaver collection becoming instantly worthless.

I thought the Giants were going to take up the entire contract?

Yep, not surprised... I wouldíve loved to gotten him here in STL, but never thought weíd win the sweepstakes. Kudos to the front office for ponying-up and getting a good package in place tho; itís nice to see them trying to make a splash this offseason. Letís just get Ozuna instead haha

No, he's on the verge of becoming a tool because he is taking meetings with teams (like STL and possibly SF) that he apparently has no intent of accepting a trade to.

Just make a damn decision already, one way or the other....it's not like he hasn't had months to think about his future.

If his intent is to hold out for a trade to the Dodgers come hell or high water, then why did he take meetings with STL and SF? Right now he's just wasting everyone else's time....

^This..I get that it's a big decision and he has to pick a place he's comfortable living for the next several years, but he's had to know this was coming for a while and the season has been over for a month. He doesn't want to play in cold weather. He doesn't like Massachusetts' taxes. He wants to play on the coast. yada yada, yada Jesus, it's MLB. There aren't many franchises in warm weather that can build a consistent winner. Just decide already or enjoy hitting 50+ dingers from the NL East cellar.

Stanton just used his NTC to reject an agreed-upon trade to the Giants!

@extrabaggs
Giants on Stanton: "Our agreement with the Marlins to acquire Giancarlo Stanton subject to his waiving of the no-trade clause will not move forward and it is our understanding that the Marlins and Stanton are exploring other options."

Or they can trade off the rest of the roster, demand the moon from the Dodgers for Stanton, and if the Dodgers don't give them what they want, keep Stanton for the next three years.

I'm not sure Stanton could have handled this any worse if he tried.....
