Default TV Question

Not wanting to fight the Best Buy and Walmart doorbuster madness anymore, I am in the market for a tv and wanted to know some opinions on this one-

RCA 46" Class LCD 1080p 60Hz HDTV 46LB45RQ - Best Buy

If you can suggest a better one in the 40in range, in the 350 range....please do. Any help is appreciated!

i got my Philips 40 inch LCD for i think 400 on Amazon during the summer. I can only imagine what deals they'll have for Cyber Monday though.

as for my TV- no complaints so far.

i am not a huge fan of RCA.

i would get Samsung over anything, they make the best LCD/LED tv's i have seen, with the best prices.

RCA is a crap company that makes crap products, buyer beware! My parents bought an RCA TV years and had nothing but trouble. Long story short - they barely got a year's use out of a $500 TV. Aside from the poor product, their customer service was a total joke.

I have a 42" LG LCD and couldn't be happier with it, but we spent about twice what you're looking to spend. This was 3 years ago so pricing is probably much better on comparable products now.

Also, you might want to go check out the store displays anyway (just not on Black Friday). The picture quality varies wildly from one model to the next.

Samsungs arent bad but that shininess that the picture seems to have isn't too real.

I would also stay away from RCA. Sony and Samsung are my brands of choice, but Vizio is gaining respect with many new buyers. I also think when you get into bigger screens such as 42" and up, you should try to find 120 Hz or higher refresh rate, especially if you watch alot of action or sports. A little more money, but I think you usually get what you pay for with TV's. Look for last years models being closed out and you should be able to find something in your price range or close to it.

Thanks for the opinions. I just remember RCA being a decent tv maker at one point.

Most of what I seem to find brand wise that I like with only have 60hz. Most of my use will be from my ps3.

Opinion on Emerson? With walmart they have a 32in emerson lcd for 148. If it sells out but youre there and in line within the hour that the sale is active etc, you get a "guarantee" card, you pay, and they say youll get the item by xmas.

Ive seen where LCD isnt the way to go and its more LED.

Not on the guarantee list is a 32in samsung LED for 248...saving 50.00.

Or a 43in samsung plasma with 600hz but only 720p for 378.

I got a Emerson last year from Walmart and was a little bit concerned going into it. But the deal was to good to pass up, the tv has been great so far. Im actually going back for their 40inch for my bedroom.
