Default Question for American Hockey Fans

Alright, quick question guys:

HOW THE HELL DO YOU WATCH NBC HOCKEY?

I've seen the downfall of Bob Cole, one of the great announcers of all time, but I'd rather listen to an 80 year old man with little talent in 2013 than Mike Emrick and Pierre MacGuire.

They're unbearable, in my opinion. Painful to listen to them call the game. Especially MacGuire, who is, just....awful (my favorite Pierre MacGuire tidbit: Jordan Eberle Team Canada Semi Final Tying Goal vs. Russia - YouTube).

Just wondering. I don't like many of the people with cbc, and tsn's announcers aren't great, but I find Doc and Pierre to be unbearable.

(Definitely check out that Pierre clip. It sounds like he's mentally challenged!).

We have a special button called "mute" on our remotes here in the states.

It's very useful at times.

Mute? Hmm, interesting word. Mute. Sounds German. I guess we don't have those buttons up north.

I wish there was an option where you could mute out the announcers and listen to the sounds of the rink. Back in 05 after the lockout, cbc didn't do commentary for a little while. Very cool to listen to.

I'm sure the mute button could come in handy listening to Pierre's bull #@#@#@#@.

I cannot stand Pierre MacGuire. He is a douche and a half. I wish they would allow Bob Miller and Jim Fox (the Kings t.v. duo) do what they do best just once on NBC. I think most fans would enjoy listening to those two fellows, especially Miller. He is not a Foster Hewitt award winner for nothing

Two words: Melissa Leo.

That discounts your entire "they won an award" argument. Because so did Melissa Leo. And look where that got her. Nowhere.

Plus, Bob Cole also won a Foster. Although he is one of the best announcers of all time, he's, well, he's old. Like Bob Miller.

Although the Canadian bias drives me up the freakin wall. I can hardly stand to watch a Leafs game on CBC. Granted, it is the CANADIAN Broadcast channel. Personally I like Doc, Pierre Meh, I will agree with Kings. Miller and Fox are awesome. Doc called all the Devils games for like 20 years? I think he knows a thing or two.

Not only is the cbc a Canadian channel, but it's owned and operated by the Canadian government. Obviously, there's going to be some Canadian bias. I've never found the bias that bad, though

Can't deny, though. HNIC has far and away the best analysis. And the best first intermission show

I've always hated Doc. Not too sure why. I grew up listening to Danny Gallivan and Bob Cole, both of which had somewhat slower styles. I feel like Doc is constantly talking. It takes away from the sounds of the game.

Yeah, I really dont care too much about the announcers. I am more intent on watching the game rather than what they say. I actually like how Pierre frequently reverts to their Junior days and always has a little anecdote about it. But, hey, to each his own.....you can always find something to complain about if thats your nature.

The only one I like is Doc. He is a great play by play man IMO.

The only two words in Pierre's vocabulary are Sidney and Crosby.

I can't stand Pierre, but I actually think Doc is awesome. And I'm a Pens fan. And it's not just Crosby he drools over. A couple years ago it was Mike Richards - every Flyers telecast is was "Mike Richards this, Mike Richards that." Now it's Crosby and Giroux. Or maybe it's just the star players for whatever teams he's covering that night. I can't say because if it's not a Pens game I try to avoid any game he's doing.

This - without question I only watch NBC Sports Network if I have to catch that game in particular.

I enjoy watching Don Cherry as it acts as a color check for my tv screen.

Jim Hughson or Chris Cuthbert for "New School"

never beat a Bob Cole/Harry Neal combo though.

perhaps its just me but I hate listening to Doc, he just sounds so nerdy. Luckily I can listen to a better announcers in Pat Foley, does an amazing job with hawks games. In case you don't know who he is watch this-

Doc Emrick is one of the all time greats. Pierre blows and there have been numerous posts about that since he started on NBC

I've heard Foster and Bill Hewitt back in the 50's were real good as well. As was Danny Gallivan (though I only got to listen to a bit of him).

I agree, though, Harry Neale and Bob Cole were the best. I don't mind Hughson, but he's no Bob Cole.

I can't stand Cuthbert. I feel like I've heard him say "golden goal" over a thousand times. It's so annoying. See Bob Cole 2002 for how to call a "golden goal".

Did Leo win the Foster Hewitt? No. So your argument is worth its weight in dead babies. And you best not be ragging on Miller or I will cut you

She won the most prestigious award in her field. Then said the f word. And then flew straight into obscurity, never to be relevant again.

Like Bob Miller.
