Default Panini retail football products are GARBAGE

It seems like Panini loads up basketball retail with big autos and cards. How come in football we are stuck with blasters with no chances for autos and when autos are put in they are the lowest tier players 90% of the time. I would just love to see decent retail from time to time. Not any blaster worthwhile this year. I'm sure optic could change things but contenders is loaded with points and horrible autos. It's just not worthwhile to break unless you need to crack something open. Thoughts?

Rookies and Stars is probably the only retail worth opening if you’re looking for big hits. The checklist is deep with all the big names signing and relic parallels down to 1/1s

Agreed. That is because it's a Retail Only product.

I haven't really been paying much attention to football cards this year. I hardly see any threads for breaks or pick ups, seems like its in the toilet.

Bought 5 blasters yesterday from my LCS, 4 Optic and 1 Contenders. Pulled some nice cards, but no autos. Only hits were 250 panini points (out of the box of Contenders, BOO) and 1 rookie threads Zay Jones jersey. I do like Optic, those pink refractors look pretty cool.

I like optic too but we need to see autos or numbered parallels much like basketball does

No itís not. Itís Hobby as well but itís the only product that you can cross hit cards. There are retail and hobby only cards within the set but most of the cards are shares.

I agree with you, and they are well aware of their practices so I dont touch these anymore. Complete waste of money for 99% of people.

The only way to change things is by closing your wallet and refusing to purchase them.
Eventually, they will see their sales reports failing, and "hopefully" change their business model.

Cant really compare newer basketball cards to newer football cards. A lot of basketball card prices, make about no sense. Like $200 for basic refractor like rcs. The market for basketball is worldwide...blah blah blah. (I think that's been noted 1000 times so I shortened it.)

A hot football base rc goes for $20...and that's pretty much the top end. Not sure if basketball even has a ceiling.

I will note that retail has improved a lot the last five years, and the other company retail sets, when they were making them, were just terrible outside of Chrome. Its moving in the right direction (with the many ssp retail exclusives).

Its true.. and sadly, the only thing they will listen to is when their quarterly numbers drop, and outcry from shareholders when enough people decide to close their wallets.

Nothing else works.

Well I'm doing my part. But they are a massive multinational corporation hell bent on destroying sports card clecting. So I'm a bit concerned that it's not going to be easy.

I hear you.. as it take more than you and I. It takes thousands of collectors to all follow the same practice before a dent is made.
