Default question about TPB and HC

I was thinking of preordering because you can get a pretty good discount however looking on ebay it seems they all go for a lot cheaper anyway....Do these ever go up in value? Or is it a good bet to just wait and get it way cheaper later on. If anyone has an opinion on this it would be appreciated.

Not sure how values work with these things, but if value is a concern, wait.

If you just want something to read now, buy what you can't pass up.

Some go up, for sure. mostly collections that are sought after and out of print. If it's just the next 5 issue arc of some random book you'll probably find it for half of cover.

Probably the best example of a trade paperback going up in value are the ones Eclipse made for Miracleman in the 1980's. Book 3, in particular, often sold for $200 or more in the 90's, even in softcover. The hardcovers sold for even more. I'm not sure if Marvel reprinting both the single issues and collected editions a few years ago has decreased their value. I think the original 1st print TPBs of Dark Knight and Watchmen for the 80's are worth some cash, too.

Checker Books also somewhat oddly collected Alan Moore's Supreme about 10 years ago, still the only collections that exist of those, and they are valuable as a result.

More recent material that I've seen some nice spikes for are some of the Absolute Editions from DC (like League of Extraodinary Gentlemen) and the Omnibus line from Marvel, like the Garth Ennis Punisher stories.
What's with these homies, dissing my girl? Why do they gotta front? What did we ever do to these guys that made them so violent?
