Pitching ranks. Again only looking at ESPN rosters, trying to balance current talent along with long term aspect

1. Tex
2. D2R
3. Jac
4. Seth

(All teams above this point have anywhere from 2 to 4 studs on their squad along with pretty good depth)

5. HR (Sale, Kershaw, Miles is good, but a lot of question marks after that. Decent depth, but limited upside)
6. Bam
7. Hollywood
8. 88UD (a little less top end talent than my pitching, IMO, but perhaps slightly better depth. It's pretty close between me and 88UD)

(Tier ends)

9. Gum (Carrasco good, after that it's not. Arrieta is going downhill, pretty much all depth guys are a shot in the dark on any given day. No real young high end talent)
10. SAF (Severino is a good one to have, and I like Buehler and Gray as high end depth. Couple of decent prospects that might be a few years out)
11. Fire
12. Jake

I know it's a part of the game, but injuries absolutely killed me this season. Just about every important player I have was injured at some point this year. On the bright side, that allowed me to make some trades which made my team significantly younger with much more upside now than it did at this time a year ago. I think I have a 50/50 chance at making the playoffs next year. I don't have any superstar names but my pitching staff looks good on paper if Kershaw and Sale can stay healthy and my offense isn't terrible either, especially once you add Eloy and Senzel. Losing Kopech sucks, but I think I'll be alright without him in the short term.

Biggest surprise this year- D2R. I'm pretty sure I put him near the bottom of my power rankings near the start of the year, but it's become clear that he's a great manager. Couple of players worked out that I didn't think they would, too

Biggest disappointment- Bam. Named himself "2017 Champs" last year, didn't win. Named himself "2018 Champs" this year, will finish 5th at best. Bruh

Breakout players-

Christian Yelich (has been on the verge for the past few years)
Eddie Rosario
David Peralta
Jose Martinez
Juan Soto
Patrick Corbin
Blake Snell
Trevor Bauer
Kyle Freeland
Sean Manaea

Surprises (I guess this is similar to breakouts, but slightly different)

Trevor Story
Javier Baez
Mike Clevinger
Ross Stripling
Shane Bieber
Matt Harvey
Alex Cobb
Lance Lynn
Yu Darvish
Josh Hader
Miles Mikolas

Flop players-

Gary Sanchez
Jose Altuve (though admittedly 90+% just due to injury)
Carlos Correa
Kris Bryant
Elvis Andrus
Zack Godley
Robbie Ray
Luis Castillo
Chris Archer
Danny Duffy
Yu Darvish (again)

Ripoff trades-

JD Martinez for Luis Castillo, Mitch Keller, Victor Robles

"Who cares?" trades-

Fernando Romero for Scott Kingery

Justin Turner for Mike Montgomery

For the most part, trades weren't too crazy this year. I can fairly easily pick which side I'd want in most of them, but for the most part they were pretty tame

Here's my reasoning-

deGrom- Stud
Syndergaard- Great, but gets injured too much
Grienke- Stud, but aging and should go downhill soon
Tanaka- He's been much better this year than last, but still is pretty inconsistent. Also an injury concern
Hamels- Somehow got back to good Cole Hamels after being traded, but I don't expect him to keep that up past this year, and he'll be 35 in a few months
Wheeler- Been very good this year, but I'm personally not buying in
Rodon- Strung together several great starts, but he still has to prove it for me over a longer period of time
Keuchel- Still good, but starting to age and lose his effectiveness

It's not a bad staff at all, but there's just a lot of guys that I view as either inconsistent, aging, going downhill, soon to be going downhill, or some combination of those

Clearly I had a typo as I went about that. He doesn't have top 2 pitching. I'd have him middle of the pack

Think I gotta add some depth this offseason. The injuries to Trout, Bryant, and Correa hurt. Plus Harper sucking for 2/3 months didn’t help.

And if the Mets add some offense, naturally my pitchers will get some W’s

I'm still happy with where I am at. I'm able to compete year in and year out, while still have some nice pieces coming along at key positions (Mejia at C, Hiura at 2B) and some possibly Ps with upside Alcantara notably.

I feel confident in my ability to piece veterans together to stay competitive even without highend talent. Although my selection of Andujar has been clutch.

A perfect game, a handful of saves, and 10 HR's from my offense today and I have a shot!

This is fair. I've pretty much spiraled downhill ever since I lost JoFer (RIP). Can't complain about making it to the 2nd round of the playoffs after having to stitch this rotation together all year. Considering a change in strategy for next year. We'll see.

I'd add Brantley to the surprise list -- I took a lot of heat for trading him basically straight up for Paxton. He's 18th in total points for offense (8th for OF's) and has more points than Paxton even with the no-hitter. I know he's older, but it worked for what I wanted this year -- except for how bad I ended up needing pitching...

Also, Markakis is even higher on the list than Brantley. That's a pretty big surprise.

I think next year we should change how the draft order is determined. The picks 7-12 should still be determined by reverse final standings after playoffs for the teams that made the bracket. But for the teams that didn't, there's no incentive to win. There's no reason HR and I should be in the last place matchup ahead of SAF, Jake, and Fire (no offense)

Maybe we should switch it next year to picks 1-6 being determined by the final order of the consolation bracket teams. Like whoever finishes 7th gets the 1st pick, 8th place gets the 2nd pick, and so on. That'd provide an incentive for teams to keep playing and not tank if they don't make the playoffs

Good luck guys!

Think this is the first time where the best teams are the championship.

I’m rooting for D2R because finding Tex a gift will be easy lol. But ya never know with eBay. There may be a game used Kate Upton.....

A lottery would be dope. Number of regular season losses determines how many times your name is in the randomizer.

Definitely not a lottery. NBA proves that sucks. Mayyyyyybe just a lottery between the non-playoff teams for picks 1-6, but even that I'm not a fan of

If Tex wins, I might have to buy a Cubs card for the first time in my entire life.

Two seasons - championship game appearances... 0 championships... as of now that is.

I already beat the team that beat me last year.
