Good to hear he is nicer than that loser Jesse biddle! Sounds like an awesome experience.

I liked reading how after heyward was "hurt" every other month chipper took him aside and had the conversation with him that everyone is hurt now and basically he needs to be a man... im willing to bet chipper has ached somewhere in his body every day the last 10 years of his career.

Awesome story and congrats!! So many retired stars who make appearances are jerks who act like they don't want to be there, but Chipper is always a class act and makes it obvious he cares about his fans.

This is awesome and I hate that I missed it!!! I remember in the early 90s, Chipper used to come out to the Buck-Masters classic out towards Selma Alabama. They would always have a fun competition for sports stars and celebrities and then an autograph signing. I remember meeting players such as Bo Jackson, Ben McDonald, Charlie O'Brien, Will Clark, Wade Boggs, Jeff Kent and of course Chipper when I was young. Chipper was always really cool and signed several things for me.

Thanks for sharing... brought back some great memories!

I've always been a fan of Chipper and I ended up picking up a bunch of his low-end rookie cards after re-entering the hobby in 2014. I stepped up my "collecting dollars" the last several years by picking up rare 90s inserts, along with a very nice raw desert shield RC card. I wish he had cards in a few of my favorite insert sets (i.e. 1992 Donruss Elite, 1993 Donruss Elite Dominaters, and 1993 Finest Refractors - obviously too soon to be included).

Ultimately, I appreciate Chipper's game more now than I ever did when I was a teenager collecting mainly Frank Thomas cards. Hopefully he will be elected in the first ballot and I will have another chance to see it happen in Cooperstown.

Thanks for sharing a very cool story!
I totally agree, Tanner meeting Jose was one of the coolest stories that I have ever read! And even though it wasn't THAT cool, it was great for me just to be able to shake his hand and tell him that I've always been a big fan.

And those 90's inserts are definitely my favorite cards to take a trip down memory lane with!

Good point. I forgot that Mantle was a switch hitter.

HAHA! Jesse Biddle, what a jerk...

But I was hoping he wasn't a jerk so I didn't have to list all my Chipper stuff on eBay when I got home!

Luckily, that didn't happen.

Man, this is fantastic! Chipper's still got a great sig. Great choice on the items signed, especially the card.

That's awesome! From what I heard while I was there, apparently Chipper has been at the Buckmaster Expo for the past few years. I could possibly be going again next year!

Oh yeah, I really like the way his auto looks! I probably would have had some better items if I knew he was signing so many per person.

I was only planning on the jersey, and was hoping for the card and the ball (and would have been super stoked to just get these), but we essentially had him sign everything we had with us! LOL

Would love to see some of your favorite Chipper cards if you want to post in this thread.

If you prefer to keep your thread from becoming a PC showoff thread I completely understand. At some point I can always start a separate Chipper Jones showoff thread

I would love to, but it will take me a while with my Photobucket being all jacked up now.

Let me get some photos together and I definitely will!
