Default What's the best way to sell investment cases?

Don't really want to pay 10% to ebay. Are there any other good, safe options?

You can sell to Blowoutcards, as long as they are sealed cases or boxes

Losing 30% is definitely a better deal than 10%.

Just posted this on another thread.... going to leave it here too.

In the past, I have openly discussed what sealed wax I was holding - But one day it was pointed out to me that BO is in the business of selling wax and that discussing it hear is akin to walking into McDonalds and showing the customers your hamburgers you have.

The boards are a great resource for all of us.

I would humbly and kindly suggest that openly discussing holdings and investing of sealed wax is something that should probably not be done here. I don't mean any disrespect to any of you, but clearly we've seen examples of fishing for offers here. That undermines BO's business, which could hurt the forum in the long term.

Again, just my two cents and not meant to offend anyone.

Forget the regular payment methods that literally everybody else uses.

Accept payment in stride gum ONLY.

This is a fair point. However, I never fully understood why people are so protective of this. A robust re-sell market for sealed wax only helps BOs business model. BOs business model is clearly not to buy and hold. They want to acquire inventory, sell, then move on to the next release. The more people they can convince to get into the buy and hold business, the more they can sell their product for at initial release.

If the forums had a robust marketplace to sell sealed cases, BO could benefit. They would always be able to charge a premium due to their reputation and speed. Additionally, it could serve as another channel for them to acquire product and then mark-up based on the above.

Would love to hear counter arguments why this doesn't benefit all.

Why can't you set up a table inside Wal-Mart and sell stuff?

If a collector buys an investment case from blowout, I feel like it’s fair to discuss best ways to capitalize on those investments. May undercut bo as a buyer but stimulates conversation about “investment cases’’ which benefits bo as a seller. Also no mention of product in the case, so while I don’t know if this technically is allowed, seems a reasonable question. You don’t invest in burgers . It like taking the happy meal toys from 20 years ago to McDonald’s to try to sell them... McDonald’s doesn’t have them anymore.. you bought them from McDonald’s... may convince others to buy up all the current happy meals to grab the toys

I don't think this is the right comparison given it is a brick and mortar concept. On the other hand, you can buy off amazon and sell it right back on their site.

But they get a % of each transaction, correct? Ice never sold on amazon. I can't imagine with how profitable they are the don't take a cut.
But I could very well be wrong and don't feel like using the Google right now.

Yup. I'm sure they do. But that is also something that could be explored as an additional revenue stream. Just trying to get a sense if people have thought in depth about this issue and solutions to help hobby grow even more.

Amazon loses money on each product it sells on the site. They make their money from AWS

I have no problem with NOT selling unopened cases to BO.

My gripe is with those using BO to basically advertise their cases and then use the PM feature to sell them. That's not okay.

Basically, create a thread asking what you should do - bust or hold - and wait for offers to come in - while BO has wax for sale. Not cool

Yup, absolutely. If the current rule is that BO does not want people selling on the forums, this practice should absolutely be prohibited and stopped.

I'm just trying to stimulate some conversation about whether all parties could benefit if there was a way to allow selling on the forums to be possible.

My favorite is the recent thread where in the first post they say I don’t care how much the box is worth, I hope to pull some cool cards. An hour later they ask how much people think it’s worth Incase they sell on eBay. It’s so obvious.

I’m not using this thread to advertise. I’m not even selling my cases for another few years.
