Ah, gotcha. It'll be interesting to see what Todd Frazier wants to do. I know he liked NY, but I believe this is the first time he's been a free agent.

Easy answer, No. Its Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth and its not even close. Unless both of them boost there batting average by 100 points then we can talk.

With CF now open in San Francisco and the realization he will not be starting everyday in the OF, Ellsbury is willing to waive his no trade clause to go to the Giants. Please make a deal Yankees!

Not sure my thoughts on the talks about us going after Cole. I think I would rather get Archer from the Rays, but I'm not sure if they would be willing to deal within the Division. It would help me in my Fantasy Baseball league though since I won Archer.

If we can unload Ellsbury on the Giants, and get Cole with only giving up 1 top prospect (I'm resigned to the fact Frazier is gone in that deal), I think I would be a happy camper

I guess if we get Cole it means Montgomery is heading back to AAA until Cole or Gray fail and that Chance Adams/Justus Sheffield are pushed back another year. I really like Montgomery.

Tanaka/Severino/Gray/Sabathia/Cole/Montgomery....... yeah acquiring Cole and re-signing CC doesn't add up

I had forgot about Sonny still being there for the rotation. I don't want to lose out on Montgomery, he's really consistent

The current rotation is a big reason why I don't want to see the move for Cole. Top 3 are locked in, but I want to see what Montgomery can do with an offseason. The kid fared very well last season and should be provided the opportunity to start. I get that there's a perceived sizeable upgrade with Cole, but Monty has just scratched the surface.

I'm not sure why the Yankees are even trading for Cole as it is going to create a logjam for starting pitching. I guess they see something beyond his struggles of last year.

Tanaka FA 2020
Gray FA 2020
Severino FA 2023
Montgomery FA 2024
Sheffield
Adams
Green
Tate

I guess this means thankfully if they get Cole, Green won't be a starter. I just think giving up Adams would be too much.

Who knows. Cash is pretty good with these trades. They tried to draft cole in the first place so im sure they really like him.

Folks. its called 6 men rotation. It will happen.

That's why I dont see the need for Cole. I know there could be injuries during the year, but some of the kids in AAA should get a shot and see how they do.

Zero chance Pittsburgh gets Adams.

Plus, there are always injuries.

Every team has to use 6,7,8,9 starters each year. Nobody makes it through only using their top 5

Zero chance? Almost all the reports being talked about include adams and frazier as the package for cole. So there's a far greater than zero percent chance.

They've said Torres Florial and sheffield are not available for cole , so the deal likely headlines around adams and frazier with no other pieces of real value

From what I read today, Wilpon of those crosstown Mets, is being a crybaby over the Yankees trading for Stanton. As always his team is relegated to nothingness in the sports section of the Daily News and NY Post.

Some International signings from Saturday:

Quote:
Yankees' Antonio Cabello: Agrees to terms with Yankees

Cabello was listed as the No. 8 eight prospect within the international pool according the MLB pipeline, partially due to the versatility and athleticism that he's demonstrated in being able to play multiple positions. Although he's been known as a catcher, the 17-year-old can also take the field as a second baseman or center fielder. Cabello boasts a strong ability to block balls and has a plus arm when it comes to throwing out runners. He does have work to do in order to get better on the offensive side, but he will have time to get his batting up to par during the next couple years within the Yankees' system.
Quote:
Yankees' Raimfer Salinas: Signs with Yankees

Salinas was ranked sixth on the MLB Pipeline's Top 30 International Prospects list, and projects as a potential five-tool player with his hitting ability leading the way. The 16-year-old is a fine defender and will have a strong arm in the outfield to go along with decent baserunning speed. Salinas is also able to hit to all areas of the diamond, and has demonstrated home-run pop as well.
