Default Astros vs Brewers: MLB HOPES NOT

What kind of ratings would a series like this get? I am in Texas so am pulling for the Astros, who remembers when they were the Disatro’s? The Brewers just look like hey are running on all cylinders. Thoughts?

Could give a toss what MLB wants. I think that would be a very exciting, very draining WS that should be a draw.

Fans make to big a deal out of this. The contracts for sponsorship are done. It’s over a few years term. One year of Mil vs Hou is more then made up for the last few years of LAD, Chi and Mets being in it.

And isn’t Hous still one of the biggest markets in the country anyway? I bet it’s comparable to Boston

MLB should be happy because in the AL either way they are getting a lot of young players. NL mil wouldn’t be great. After Yelich it isn’t exactly a bunch of superstars. Cain I guess

Houston is the 4th largest city in the US, and could surpass Chicago in the coming years for #3.

The Astros are a cast of characters that make good tv...and great baseball.

I get the Dodgers are LA, but for the last couple years I’ve thought that lineup was boring to watch. I’d much rather see Red Sox/Astro’s vs Brewers

No offence but KC wouldn’t have won the WS if this argument was true.

Fans don't want same world series year after year. Brewers in it might boost it because it's a team not in it for 36 years so more people might watch to cheer for the underdog.

Right that’s what I said in my next post.

Can’t go wrong in the AL.

I guess MIL wouldn’t be great but having either AL team will make up for it

Maybe in the past but the lineup this year is great.

Amazing how many people watched baseball in the 80s. But yea, a Brewers/Astros series would be pretty rough on the ratings. Kind of like Giants/Tigers 2012. A Dodgers/Red Sox series would be pretty ridiculous.

I don't care what MLB or fans care about, as a fan of the team this is what we watch every game for

I think part of the problem is there hasn't been very many teams fighting for the top spots. It gets dual and boring when the same teams fight it out every year.

I would personally tune out on a LA vs NY/ Boston. World Series. It just doesn't interest me. I know the ratings would be great ,but that is only due to them being in larger markets.

You cant expect these other cities fan bases to grow without winning from time to time. Milwaukee has always been passionate about their baseball. They just haven't had anything to be excited about for awhile.

Part of me always wonders how much streaming affects these numbers. I know I don't plan on missing an inning, doesn't matter who is in it. I got FuboTV specifically for the postseason.

The 2013 Red Sox didn't exactly give a massive boost in ratings when looking at the next few year's World Series just like the Dodgers being there last year didn't magically mean the ratings would be higher than the classic Cubs-Indians series the year prior.

May the best teams win and all series' go seven games. There is a TON of revenue lost when a series is a sweep vs. going 6-7 games....that's most likely what they care about.

The fact that KC won a WS proves the argument of "MLB doesn't want a less popular team in/to win the WS" is wrong.

Doesn't want =/= Rigging the results of the championship series

I'm a Red Sox fan living in Wisconsin and after 3 titles in 10 years of guys I loved rooting for(hey back then Papelbon was the MAN!), this Sox team does nothing for me and I want the Brewers to go all the way because it makes so many people in my state really happy! So many smiling faces and 'Go Brewers', it's like Christmas kinda...

The two teams that swapped leagues a few years ago (for no good reason) would be nice to see playing each other in the World Series.
