2018 Topps Chrome Hobby Case

Was bored and picked up 3 cases worth of chrome direct from Topps when it was available (missed the 10% coupon, damn!). I just wanted something for fun at a "respectable" price point. Was OK to take a bath. Finished one case yesterday, that was a handy perspective until Box 8. Pretty terrible overall.

I busted a hobby and jumbo case at the National and the best card I pulled was a Lindor Superstar Senations non auto red /5 so I would say quit while you are ahead

Ok, I couldn't help myself. Onto case two. A little more color and a little better auto selection but still pretty rough. The base auto collation has been stellar though and an extra image variation this time around. Best card came out of box 9.

Onto case #3, no big hit to hang my hat on. Probably the best auto balance of the 3 cases, finally landing an Acuna and a respectable color auto (Hoskins). A lot of orange in this one but unfortunately nothing of impact. I think my bigger complaint than the SSP autos and the oversized auto checklist is the complete lack of color. We're talking at best two color cards per box, which generally reduced to one if you hit a negative refractor (

) and if you had a color auto that generally dipped into your two per allocation as well. Run the presses!

Other than not pulling an Ohtani auto, which is what everyone wants, you didn't do horribly bad. I got a case direct from Topps, first 4 boxes were disheartening at best, 5th box I pulled the refractor auto. At least that's what I thought, they used a different image for his auto and I wasn't familiar with the background colors, turned out to be a purple refractor which saved the case because the other 7 boxes were similar to the first 4.

Also picked up 2 more cases from an online LCS and did fairly well with the dispersion of quality name autos, but mostly base & redemptions in the first case, second case was similar and yielded a base Ohtani. Color wise, I didn't get much. An orange Lindor auto redemption & Devers RC, and 3 other insignificant names. Only red was a Robles medallion and no 1/1's.

The Topps case would've been a total bust had the Ohtani not come out. The other two cases I was very happy with and have come out much worse in almost all my other case breaks.

I'm trying to complete the refractor (9 cards) & prizm (quite a bit more) sets, do you have any plans for the ones you pulled? I could message you a list of what I need.
