When the young guys like Zeke and Dak are on their rookie contracts, you would think they are looking for their next payday. So again, money is important to them.

If Jerry were to bench/suspend them (he wouldn't and we all know that, anyone posturing like he would is objectively wrong):

A) They will still get paid
B) They will still get hefty 2nd contracts

Other teams aren't going to balk at Dak and Zeke over a perceived kneeling issue.

I agree if a lesser player tried to take a stand they would be affecting their future earnings. Good players? Not a chance.

I say test the man then. See what happens Zeke after JJ stood by your side for your issues

I'm not sure why they don't just film the fellas kneeling from the waist up only, like they way they did Elvis for 1950's television. That way, the players who want to can kneel and those who don't like that won't know they aren't standing.

I like that Jerry is taking a stand. I hate that this is such a distraction. But for everyone saying that it a "rule" to stand, it isn't.

With that said here is a rule:

Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1 (d) of the NFL rulebook, which states that “players are prohibited from engaging in any celebrations or demonstrations while on the ground”

This is the same NFL that fined Cameron Heyward for wearing eye black honoring his father, former NFL fullback Craig "Ironhead" Heyward after he died from Cancer.

Its the same the league that fined cornerback William Gay for wearing purple cleats to show support for domestic violence awareness.

The League now says its OK to demonstrate in this manner, during the anthem, but not OK to show support for cancer or domestic violence due to "Uniform" rules?

Crazy stuff!
If I understand it correctly, there are two sets of rules - one for in-game and one for non-game/game-day conduct. It seems to me that the NFL has been more concerned with what happens in-game, as that is what most people tune in for, so the rules are more strict.

A player could wear purple cleats to show support for whatever cause anytime before the game and be fine so long as he's not wearing them in game.

Frankly, I'm surprised that the rules for non-game/game-day conduct aren't more strict given the non-stop coverage of the NFL during the season. There must be a reason but I don't know what it is.

True, but the millennials seem to have quite a few more cupcakes than the previous generations.

It's okay, the old gentleman seems to be confusing a delicious dessert food with college degrees.

Someone in this thread has never gone 56 in a 55 zone. Or is that one of those rules we just ignore?
