I love this thread y’all are doing. As a teenager from the 80s I have always loved these cards. If y’all want to see what I have in psa graded cards just search for meatloaf213@yahoo.com on there. I am in the process of adding the pics to go with them on there as I didn’t think about them when I first got them. Thanks for the thread it is a great walk down memory lane.

Thanks for the kind words. It's always nice to travel down memory lane with people who grew up in the same era. It's been such a joy picking up these gems from yesteryear.

I definitely will check out your cards on PSA. I have the PSA Cert app on my phone. I'll take a look at how I can find your cards on there. I've never searched for a specific member before.

Here's something that arrived from COMC. I hope Cooperstown comes calling because he certainly deserves the nod.

Default Anyone Here Collect 80's PSA rookies?

Iím loving the 88 Fleer Edgar Martinez. Hereís my glossy version Iíve had for awhile. Heís very deserving of a Cooperstown call and regardless of the effect on his card prices, Iím hoping he gets in. He canít help that Seattle used him at DH. All he did was mash at a historic clip...

Anyway, hereís my real Edgar Martinez treasure. Itís a 1989 Bowman Tiffany and I bought it raw a couple of years ago. Finally sent it to PSA this past summer. POP 1 in PSA 10.

Damn, that's an awesome rookie - the very best for Edgar, who definitely deserved to be enshrined in Cooperstown. The one "rookie" card of his I would love to get, which isn't truly a rookie, is a PSA 10 1989 Score. That's one I hope to track down at some point down the road, but I certainly have my eyes on his '88 Fleer Glossy. I can only imagine it will climb a bit when he gets inducted, which I really think is just a matter of time.

Great cards!

PSA 10's from this era don't grow on trees... despite the over production and limited interest.

Quite true. By now means am I collecting for investment purposes, but it's fun trying to track down some of the lower population PSA 10 rookies from yesteryear. I dare say it's more appealing that cards that were so mass produced are rather tough to find gem mint.

But the amount of sealed sets and wax out there means that the 10 POP will grow significantly, right? I think not a ton get submitted bc people know that a 9 is worth <$5 for most of these cards, so itís a bit risky.

Donít get me wrong I love gem junk wax cards too, but I do think the psa 10 thing can be a bubble (when there are certain active registries for example)

For low pop commons it's always an issue and it's not isolated to the 80s.

I've been on quite the Leaf/O-Pee-Chee kick lately and love picking up hard to find rookies of the memorable players from the era. My dad's family is Canadian, so there's some personal interest here on multiple levels. I picked up this Rafael Palmeiro last week and it looks great with my Maddux and Devo.

Man do I love the 80's stuff. I've flirted with starting a PSA run but just haven't gotten around to it. For me it's all nostalgia and zero care for cost or grade so the idea I keep coming back to is getting a run of boxes from 84-89 and just ripping and pulling my own rookies and one touching them. Might make for a really sweet wall mounted display...

Well, made the plunge back into the 80s. Definitely agree with others regarding the nostalgia. Not sure where this will go, but nervous that this will become consuming as I loved this era.

Speechless that the Snyder sold for $35+ at auction. I own one, think I paid $10 a couple years ago. My first baseball player crush back in the 80's.
