Default Nba Summer League talk

Who's been watching and what/who has impressed you?

I typically don't take SL too seriously, but a lot of these guys are playing for contracts, either in the NBA or elsewhere.

Simmons' passing looks incredible. Hopefully the Philly guys can finish more of those looks.

Ingram looked very slick yesterday, he definitely has that "star in the making swagger".

The Lakers should also be very impressed with 19 YO 2nd rounder Zubac, he looked very skilled on both ends.

I haven't watched yet, but apparently some of the young Spurs guys have been impressive also.

I've been watching a little mostly Jazz games.

Simmons passing, ball handling and just overall body stood out.

Kyle Anderson is too good for summer league.

None of the Jazz second rounders look good, especially bolomboy.

Trey lyles looks like he's going to take some of Derrick favors minutes this year.

Jimmer Fredette looked kinda half-decent with the Nugs.

Ivica Zubac was a nice pickup for LA. He kinda reminds me of Nikola Jokic last year.

Emmanuel Mudiay is my early prediction for SL MVP. If he plays like he did yesterday, he will dominate the rest of Summer League.

Ya, not sure there is anything there.

He's working for his rotation spot. I like him.

The Raptors just destroyed the Kings. Early returns look like the Raptors made the right decision picking both Poeltl and Siakam ahead of Skal. WCS looked worse than last year. I just can't comment enough on how bad Sacramento's talent evaluation is.

Booker looked scary for Phoenix today too.

Get ready for Bobby Portis to dominate. I honestly think this could be a break out year for him.

Cristiano Felicio is another Bulls big man who should be getting a ton of minutes this year, and I expect him to show his worth. He's a pretty skilled big man, and I mean BIG man.

smalltown - How did that Greek kid go?

I also liked Larry Nance Jr's form against NOLA. Some great shot blocks by Larry.

Simmons' court vision is unreal. I didn't watch him in college at all so this is my first time seeing it.. Blown away with his court vision and passing.

Denzel Valentine looked great in the first quarter of his game.

Looking forward to seeing if Kelly Oubre developed some semblance of a right hand. He could score a ton in the summer league.

I think Ingram could be ROY, but I'm not sure he'll get the touches. Plus he's rumoured to come off the bench for Deng.

I think he's definitely too skinny currently, but he looks a star.

I hope Portis does dominate, he had that nice spurt last season, but then just dropped off. I'm not sure if it was the rookie wall or teams just figured him out?

Damn, Cooley (Chicago) is pushing dudes around in the paint. He looks like an offensive lineman picking on junior high kids. lol

Valentine's shot hasn't been great, but he's doing other things right. He's a complete player, and should be able to get some good minutes this season. I see him getting 20 minutes per game or so, and hopefully he can contribute a lot.

Boston doesn't have anyone on this summer league squad that can body Portis. He's making them look soft.

Dunn and Ingram look like the best rookies early on. Zubac did look good too.

I'll pencil Kris Dunn in for ROY this year.
Ingram can't win coming off the bench to Luol Deng, and I doubt that Ben Simmons will win the award for PHI.

I honestly think it was more mental. There were times where he shined, in the paint and beyond the arc, and there were times he looked confused. I think in his second season, he'll be more prepared and make a big impact for Chicago.

He put on a show. But he's going to have a much shorter leash. He made quite a few bone headed decisions that would have him riding the pine in the NBA. But that's what summer league is for and I still think he'll be a contender though.

It'll be interesting, as Thibs doesn't like to play rookies. Obviously, someone taken that high will get minutes, but the leash will be short.

Rozier looks like a player. Has that streetball handle game and can finish with either hand. His jumpshot looking smooth also.

Bobby Portis has really grown into his body. He looks strong and confident.

Jack Cooley, though...man, he's a workhorse. He was throwing people around all game, lol.

Go Bulls.

That Zubac guy may end up being one of the top players in the draft. The Lakers got a gem in this kid.

And it looks like they also hit the best player in the draft as well. Ingram is legit.

Going off yesterday, Dunn looked the pick of the bunch.

Ingram was nice but I'm not sure he's gonna be able to back down and spin on NBA players for a while.

Trey lyles dunking on people and hitting step back threes. 28 and 5. Believe that's the first game in summer league he hasn't gone 20 and 10.

Jazz second rounders still lookin like second rounders. Haha.

The Jazz draft so well I wouldn't be surprised if those 2nd rounders come good.

Looking forward to a good season from them.

Exum isn't able to participate in SL right?
