Default PED Impact on Card Values

I was driving today and a thought popped into my head. It's whole heartedly a blasphemous thought, but what would be the impact to card values if some of the most popular players were busted for PEDs.

Like how big of a hit would Trout's 09 chrome take or his 2011 Update? Or like Seager or Harper Chrome Autos?

What are your guys/gals thoughts on this?

I'd say similar to the hit A-Rod's SP RC took..

There may be extreme cases, but "good" cards of players involved in scandal don't take the hit the way 1990 Topps RCs would. As noted, you can't find a cheap Bonds auto, although maybe they might be even more costly had he not been involved in a scandal.

Rose, OJ Simpson, Clemens, Bonds, Arod, etc. Try finding their best and most desired items at a discount. You won't. There are still plenty of buyers who don't care enough about the circumstances to remove items from their want lists and when something special comes up, people will fight for it.

They are shilled. Have been for over a year now.

It's the same group of buyers and sellers incestuously Bonds-swapping in order to establish a false price point.

I posted a detailed explanation of this last year, it's one of the most obvious manipulations on ebay right now.

Just look at what happened to the rookie cards of the big stars that came out in the 80s, that will give you a perfect view of what would happen. Sure they were overproduced but PEDs just made it worse.

Pretty easy to see in action, take the last 4 sales of a Bonds PSA 10, listed from oldest to last sold.

Mr. s***l bids on each of the last 4, with round number bids of $900, $900, $950, $1050

Mr. d***d bids on 3 of the last 4, with starting bids of $760, $760, $894

Mr. 5***a bids on each of the last 4, with starting bids of $750, $750, $800, $840

Mr. m***7 bids on 3 of the last 4, with starting bids of $750, $750, $600

Now, once one of these guys jacks up the price, it either sells to an unknowing schmuck or one of them ends up winning it. And if they win it, they sell it via Probstein or PWCC and their other pals bid it up again, setting the price for them.

As was the case here-

The usual suspects - m***7, 5***a, d***d are all represented. And m***7 gets stuck with the card (which he will then keep if it's actually his card, or sell and let his buddies bid on it via Probstein/PWCC).

It's really despicable what these guys are doing, and if you look at the BGS 9.5 version of the '86 Tiffany Bonds, it's not nearly as manipulated, but it lags closer behind the PSA 10s because people think "oh it sold for $1100 as PSA 10, surely BGS 9.5 is worth $750."

But sometimes, whether through exhaustion of funds (too many Bonds Tiffanys sell within a set period of time) or lack of paying attention, sometimes they slip up and let one slide through and it sells for what it is actually worth-

Nothing because they are over produced.
Just like Griffey is really worth nothing.

If Bonds had a chrome auto prospect card it would be worth a Lot. It probably be higher than trout....

Trout is on PEDs anyway and Bonds was twice as good as him.

Just like ARod, Bonds, Clemens, Manny Ramirez, McGwire, Sosa, etc.

As for the Bonds, they are worth about $300-$500 in PSA 10, BGS 9.5........that $1K stuff is BS
