Default 2017 NFL Free Agent Thread

Did I miss another one? Now that the Super Bowl is done...

Looks like Eric Berry is gonna hit free agency, and I don't think Chiefs will be able to match his market value. Where will he play in 2017?

Chiefs will let go of Poe and resign Berry. We already have Tamba, Chris Jones, Houston, Dee Ford, Nunez-Rochez on the line. Poe is the odd man out. They won't let Berry walk.

I'm hoping for the Bengals to get a tag team partner for Dunlap at DE, so then we can take Reuben Foster in the draft instead of some DE.

Another WR would be nice (Alston Jeffery and Desean Jackson would be upgrades over Brandon Lafell)

Brandon Spano @BrandonSpano
People taking Berry thing really seriously. I'm just saying it doesn't seem like they're gonna get a deal done & he's been public about tag.

Honestly asking since it seems like he was their "choice" at LB

No chance.

He's hurt 40% of the time and has to be pulled off the field in coverage situations.

Come to Dallas. He'd be a great add with Byron Jones!

Berry will probably stay with KC.

I agree... in that I think Berry is a liar... and there is no chance he sits out if he gets tagged.

He won't like it. He won't walk away from 13 million.

Not sure if I want Melvin Ingram to walk or not. He's a highly rated edge rusher, I just don't see the impact on the field his ratings seem to suggested, plus he's going to want big money and SD gets burned with big money resigns Donald Butler and Corey Liuget (even though Liuget just finished first year of deal).

Curious to see if Cousins goes to SF with Shannahan.
A bunch of names I think are leaving their respective teams:
Alshon Jeffery
Kirk Cousins
Andrew Whitworth
Eric Berry
Lawrence Timmons

These are just a few top of my head.

Now am I reading that right that NE has $65 mil in space??? Hell, they could sign Eric Berry and let go of Chung

65 million is all relative... How many of these guys do they bring back? Hightower, Bennett, Blount, Floyd, Branch, Long, Sheard, Harmon, Ryan, Develin.

Hightower would probably be a lock since they chose him over Jamie Collins. PFF also noted that Bennett/Blount/Ryan/Harmon/Branch/Sheard/Long combined to play over 5,000 snaps this season. That's a very significant portion of the year.

New England knows what they are doing. They'll sign some and they'll let some walk away and they'll get replaced by cheaper options.

Just saying the 65 million number isn't just money to spend on new guys.

I'll also take that bet.. Clark Hunt and Andy Reid have made it very clear how vital Berry is to the Chiefs. Not only is he one of the best safeties in the league, but he is an important team leader. Not to mention a fan favorite. I'd say letting Poe walk and resigning Berry is the most likely scenario. Chiefs are incredibly deep on the DLine, and thin in the secondary. I think the Chiefs number one priority is getting him signed long term.

This is a whole lot of writing and charts... but found it interesting on another message board when discussing Eric Berry and paying him crazy money.

Note - if the Browns threw 15 million a year at him? With all their cap space? I'd be super pumped about it.

This is still pretty interesting as a whole

Eric Berry is going to have to choose between about 6 teams that need him and can over pay for him. Should be interesting.

I think Malcolm Butler is up too. They can't let him walk. He should be able to be signed relatively cheaply because he is a great cover corner but doesn't have monster stats.

Over the past few months after the Collins trade, a lot of predictions have revolved around only two of Hightower, Ryan, and Butler coming back next year. One of the most plausible scenarios is Ryan not being resigned because Butler is a restricted free agent and has no leverage, and, as you noted, letting go of Collins made it clear that Hightower is a priority to lock up.

Bring him to Cleveland to play with his brother. I'd absolutely let him compete with Kessler depending on Garoppolo and/or the Draft

Bucs have money for Berry...him and another good receiver and they're battling ATL for the division.
