Default Beckett Raw Grade review BS

I was under the impression during a raw grade review that if you left your cards with the Beckett team to ship off those grades were guaranteed. Am I wrong? I just received return shipping from Beckett and two of my grades have been downgraded. One a 9.5 is now a 9 and another a 9 is now an 8.5. Wtf

First I've heard of that...man, BGS is having some kind of issues lately!

Yea I'm not very happy about it. Why would I spend the money to have them take the cards to get a downgraded slab? I would have been better off keeping the original stickers on the the holder since the grades were higher. I'm dumbfounded.

I'm not really sure on this, but I think all RCR are subject to change upon further evaluation. I think I read that on their site somewhere at one point.

Keep us posted. This is a really, really bad practice and does not look good for them.

I understand this, but lately they consistently been grading their RCR cards lower when they get slabbed. That's a bad look for them.

Professional grader on site: Looks like a 9.5 gem mint to me.
Professional grader at Beckett Headquarters: Nope

I feel for you on this..... it really blows

I do however.... truly laugh out loud at what a farce the BGS gradig system is....... from their turn around time policy, to their ridiculous 5 tiers of "Gem Mint" cards, to providing a RCR service in which they don't even honor their own professional graders opinion the first time around................ You will end up having to submit RCR's through the cross over service before next year, just watch. This company is literally a joke

Well the reps getting a call when these cards arrive. Along with a call to Beckett. His whole selling point was we take the cards and they are guaranteed. I dropped $563 bucks on some Bull sh!t.

It would be one thing if it was a regular card but it was my Wilson 1/1 black defractor. How you going to give me a raw grade 9.5 then Slab it a 9. F'n really. Why would anyone go to these guys ever again?

I was talking to a guy at a big regional show who told me he had a 9.5 RCR come back as a 10.....So, yes it is possible. The RCR is a joke and does not guarantee you the grade unless you get it done at the National and then pay the on site fee right there

So the rep told me these were guaranteed grades if he takes them. I can see an upgrade but a downgrade is just bad business and misrepresentation.

Technically they are guaranteed grades if they never leave the booth. Did you take them away from the booth and take pics somewhere else?

For the person above that asked about grades going up. Yes I've had that happen many times. I think I had one go down and one go up in a recent submission.

I once had a 9.5 RCR come back a BGS 10 (Soler Base Chrome auto). Which show was this at OP? I'd be livid.

Maybe they got damaged on the trip back to Dallas. Or maybe the grader doesn't like the players or he was just in a grumpy mood.

Is Beckett stupid? I mean like you said wtf would you pay extra to get them in lower graded slabs. So they robbed you twice

Problem is how would they ever track this specific RCR from a show? By the time the stack of RCR's goes back to Dallas with BGS, they are mixed back in with all the service times requested and graded at a later date at random. They are opening up a big can of worms with all the no grades they are giving RCR's lately.

No disagreements from me here.
