Default The Goodwill LeBron

I'm sure a lot of you have seen by now but wanted to post here just in case. I recently acquired a 2003 Topps Chrome LeBron James Gold Refractor numbered 01/50 from a couple in Texas. The crazy part is that they got it from an online shopgoodwill lot for $80. We have dubbed it "The Goodwill LeBron"

I flew out to Texas to meet them in person and complete the deal. I filmed an episode as well which I've posted to YouTube detailing the whole story.

Definitely the craziest thing that's ever happened to me in the hobby so I thought I'd share.

Here's some pictures.

I've seen several fakes in person but nothing that looks close to the real thing.

Awesome find, Josh. I watched the episode this afternoon and it makes for a great story.

Based on how much you paid for it, you must be one of the high roller collector.

Watched the YouTube video, great story, well done. What grading company are you sending that off to? Just curious.

This is a story that changed people's lives. There was a historic card buried in storage for 15 years.

Not everything is a scam.

Im surprised the Goodwill new to even ask $80 for it. Was it part of a bigger lot?

That poor soul who dropped it off at the Goodwill. He's probably better off not knowing.

We get that. I would have no clue how to tell a reprint from a real one.

So how do you know/tell? Nobody even accused you of scamming.

Will watch when I have a chance. Crazy to think what could be hidden out there.

That is an incredible story! Thank you for sharing! The best part is fleecing that couple for 2003-04 Lebron Sp Authentic PSA 9 and $12k. You made out like a bandit!!!

It was an open auction hahaha but that's funny to think about. $80 worth of firewood to some I guess.

I did my homework and compared with known real copies and verified the lot it was bought from. It was filled with 2003 cards from release.

It's frustrating the first thing people talk about is the money, the grade and if it's real.

What do you think it’s worth? A lot more than $24k?

Why would that be frustrating? It’s an absolutely awesome find.

I’m just genuinely curious how to discern a real from fake. I have absolutely zero clue as to what to look for and what not.
