Finding the Owners of Gary Moser's Trimmed Cards: A Look into the PSA Set Registry

Good evening,

I did some digging into the currently 73-page thread in the baseball forums. That thread began with questions about the origins of a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle and turned into something completely different. Members uncovered a large vintage trimming and alteration operation run by Gary Moser, a Long Island-based dealer.

Blowout members have uncovered a few dozen vintage cards trimmed by Gary, the vast majority of which were sold through hobby consignment giant PWCC. Although PSA has its Financial Guarantee of Grade & Authenticity, PWCC has also offered to buy back altered cards though its newly-issued Marketplace Tenets. Therefore, defrauded collectors will have two avenues to pursue restitution should they so choose.

Below is a list of cards uncovered in the aforementioned thread entitled "'52 Mantle PWCC auction." Each of the cards found below is currently registered by a collector in the PSA Set Registry. There are two links associated with each card: 1) a link to the original post in the Mantle thread detailing the nature of the alteration; and 2) a link to the PSA member's Registry Set which presently includes the tainted card.

I agree. For some people I think the standings on the Registry become more valued than the authenticity of the actual cards. Sad!
