Default What does everyone do with their base cards?

I have thousands laying around. They are not in my way, but just for some reason starting to bother me that they're here. What do you all do about that?

Squirrel them away. Go through them every so often with the hopes that I "missed" something.

Ive done this a few times too. Boys n Girls club sometimes acts as childcare for those who can't afford it(like my parents) and some of those kids are genuinely excited to get free sports cards. Makes you feel good.

I have one monster box for just RCs.

I'll go through all my base, pull out my favorite players and all the rookies. The rest go in the trash.

Then, I go through the RCs box... and trash anything that's older than 5 years old of guys I don't know and/or never made it... then put the newer RCs in that I just pulled out of my base piles.

Rinse and repeat as needed, I'd say I do this every 18-24 months.

As a set builder it kills me a little inside knowing that people are just trashing all their base cards.

I stash the rookies and major stars for lots, then take the rest to Revere Beach and chuck them at seagulls. You'd be surprised how much damage a Bartolo Colon card can do.

I don't know why this is so funny! Revere Beach & Bartolo reference in one post!

What if the Bartolo Colon card has been trimmed? Does it still do the same amount of damage? Asking for a friend....

All my base baseball has been slowly released to a card shop that gives me great deals on base cards. Base cards were a means to hopefully pulling a rare, rookie, etc card.

I just culled a bunch of baseball, basketball, and football. Only have Hockey left (not that much). I am setting aside some to try for TTM autos. A bunch of duplicates and players I don't care for an auto went to the trash. I will probably go through football rcs of 2010-13 and some basketball from 14ish and toss those that aren't worth keeping around.

When and if I retire, I will make sets with the base cards that I have accumulated.
I figure this will help me stay busy between golf, grand kids and the casino.

Keep the big stars, fill up the Amazon boxes that pile up with the rest and sell them with a few extra nicer items on Ebay marketplace.

I autograph them and put them in toploaders and leave them on dealers’ tables with stupid high price tags.

Careful, I've seen those seagulls chase fully grown men across the bridge into Lynn.
