Default To buy Topps 5 Star or not!?!

Ill try not to drag this on to long. I think 5 Star looks awesome but honestly I have never bought a high end product. I am trying to decide if I should go for it. I am both a hockey and football collector and for 450 bucks I could get quite a few boxes of mid grade product. I would like to add some high end cards to the PC but I am not sure if 5 star is a good idea or not. Would I be better off sticking to the Certified/Ultimate kind of break (100$ ish per pack/box), or going high end? Also, would National treasures or The Cup (hockey) be a better Idea to break than 5 star? Any other suggestions are welcome. What do you all think?

I think that Topps 5 star is a risk because it is a brand new offering from Topps. It looks very nice, but I really don't know if they will be able to make hits that will be worth the $400-500 price tag of the product. It could end up being an amazing product, but no one really knows just yet. I think National Treasures is a safer choice because the name has been established, and people generally know what to expect. There are sticker autos, but national treasures tends to add the unique aspect of getting material pieces of football legends, as well as a lot of the present day stuff. There also are usually more hits per pack of NT compared to what 5-Star is promising.

I would say that The Cup used to be a pretty safe product to bust with consistent breaks, but it seems that it has become more feast or famine as of late.

the problem with rookie auto's in mid-low end product is you have a scrub signing 1000 auto's and you have the star's signing 100. With the stated print run of these rookies to 150 or less in 5 star, it looks like all rookies will have equal numbers in the product. That means your odds of pulling an Andre Roberts and a Sam Bradford are identical.

Now if Andre Roberts signed 150 of the card and Sam Bradford signed 25, then your back to the same issue. This is what Im waiting to see before I buy 5 star. Does anyone know?

id rather not have bradford signing as much as a scrub as that would drive the value down but i kinda like the idea with that expensive a product
