Default SGC Grading

Has anyone used them recently? Was looking at sending in a few cards to give them a shot and was just wondering what kind of times they have been seeing from them?
Thanks

SGC usually has turnaround times between same day and 20 days. Times are approximate. Just like the two other major graders, they have been swamped with orders. With that said, they have more or less been able to meet or even beat the estimated turnaround times.

I've had 20 day orders completed in 15. I even had a 7 day order take less than three days to complete. However, those were mainly from late last year.

This year, with PSA's backlog, more people are starting to use SGC as their PC backup grader. As such, I've had some slower turnaround times. I had a 3-day order take 5 days which is not too bad. But, I did have one 7 day order take 15 days. So there is a noticeable lag with some orders, lately.

Overall though, I would consider them a good grading servicer overall. Considering the grading climate we have,. at this point you almost have to expect some orders to be a late. No one has guaranteed turnaround times anymore.

As of this posting, SGC will begin processing your order the day after it has been delivered. So at least you don't have to wait days to weeks for your order(s) to begin the clock.

Also, I would keep up to date with the news. Any possible cornoavirus situation might affect turnaround time or worse, prevent grading all together.

SGC is in Boca Raton, Florida. So at this point, I think you're safe from a quarantine zone perspective. PSA, on the other hand, being in California where lots of cases are developing could have to alter processing or even close up shop if it gets really bad.

Just some food for thought.

So SGC is delayed also now? First I’m hearing of this.

They are still processing orders the day after they get them. So they are quick to get things running. However, I am just being honest in saying there's been an order or two that has come in a bit later than expected. More times than not they are still on time.

Right now, I'd just be concerned with just how fast they can process if there ends up being a situation due to the virus hysteria. Goes the same with all the graders.

I picked up a set of 86 fleer and wanted to grade a few of them to start just the time of PSA to get your package and enter it. And yeah the whole virus part going on is a very dynamic
situation for everyone. For sending to SGC best to use card savers and penny sleeves per normal?

I use them almost exclusively. And I have nothing but modern cards. That said, their re-sale is simply not where BGS and PSA are. Until they get their registry up and running, they will lag. But they are getting more market share every day from modern.

I really like the look of the SGC holders and have been seeing a lot of quick turn around times for subs in different FB groups...

Their values are increasing everyday and only a matter of time before they are right up there with PsA and BGS

I use them now exclusively. If you looking for quick flip, they may not be for you. But with PSA and BGS backlog, it wouldn't make much difference. As soon as SGC get their website integration together, they will gain a lot of ground.

I'm ready for SGC to get a shot. Shady PSA for slow delivery and high premium days are numbered.

We cannot beat the turnaround time on bulk orders with SGC. I just sent my first bulk order in. Mostly with a lot of the current flavor of the month hot cards (Lebron holo's etc).

I decided to sent my 1st order of 10 cards to SGC today. We'll see how it works out. I already have 100's of cards with PSA in an indefinite black hole, so thought I'd try and see what I thought about service, grades, etc.. Might as well try it and decide if it was worth it. I was looking over sales of SGC stuff and if you have the right cards, right grades, prices are good on SGC slabs.

Have been waiting and hoping for SGC to get a shot at mainstream relevance. Love their black slabs and the grading scale being more in line with BGS/PSA/10. Customer service seems very good and turnaround times have been the best, hopefully they can keep that up given an increase in submissions with PSA and BGS being so far behind. I also don’t want to support PSA due to the scandals and such but right now the resale is hard to pass up. But for PC or longer hold cards SGC is looking like my go to!

Just sent out a sub with SGC as well. Can't beat their turnaround times compared to the other companies

If they pull through I'll probably use them more often. I've had cards at PSA since early December now.

How are the SGC holders? Are the cards loose like PSA holders or firm like the BGS ones? How do the SGC compare to PSA/BGS cases? Sleeve on card like BGS or no?

I have like 30 cards I'd like to grade and am seriously debating sending my 30 cards there

I will be giving them a try finally in May. Now over 400+ cards, and can't wait forever.

Here is a comparison all next to each other. SGC doesn't have a sleeve like BGS, it sits inside the black insert. There is no movement. In terms of size, you can see it is slightly taller, in terms in thickness it is a touch thicker than PSA but thinner than the BGS.

Aesthetically, I find the SGC slab very clean. I have a lot of vintage cards in SGC holders (old flip) but not too much modern and have never subbed with them. I have noticed more modern cards in SGC slabs lately though as more people grow frustrated with long wait times. I have a bulk sub waiting at PSA since last year and have another 200 cards to send in.

Like others have said though, the resale value isn't there right now at PSA level so I'll probably just wait. I have been purchasing more BGS/SGC lately than PSA due to the fact that often times you can get the card sometimes at a fraction of the PSA 10 price.

Thank you for this! It answered alot of questions

Currently have 2 orders at sgc. Very happy so far just hope the resale value continues to gain ground. If the card was for PC I think sgc is clear way to go

What is the thought on crossover SGC to PSA? I have two cards that are SGC 96 that I'm considering crossing over. Would the SGC 96 typically crossover to PSA 9? Any chance to hit a PSA 10?

Thanks

Default Recent 22 Card SGC Submission

I've been sending an increasing amount of cards to SGC, and have really enjoyed the service and results. This order took 34 calendar days for anyone thinking about submitting.

Here's an order of 22:
