Default Worst PSA 10 ever? 1985 Topps McGwire

I was browsing eBay for 1985 psa 10 examples and came across this (of course PWCC):

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1985-Topps-...gAAOSwz7Nfa5Iq

Has anybody seen a worse example? Am I crazy?

Agreed.

Guess they didn't see fit to include a description write-up.

Pretty clearly trimmed, right? The top really slopes down going from left to right on the front.

1985 Topps (and most Topps product 1990 and earlier) have been known to be cut at a slant. So it’s possibly just cut by Topps that way

doesn't it look like a rodent was gnawing some of the left edge?

No, it's definitely trimmed. Look at what a nominally sized 1985 Topps McGwire is supposed to look like.

This card have been discussed previously. Not sure in what thread.

Yes. Trimmed on both the top and bottom edges.

Yeah, but there's so many threads on the topic of trimmed + PSA + PWCC, that it's probably nearly impossible to find.

Somebody is going to buy the grade at some point and will take a bath. It’s just unfortunate.

This is the closest one I own, pack pulled as a kid.

Mine has a slight tilt, but bottom border seems close to the same (his might be a hair better...hard to see on phone) . Mine looks like a lot more card up top and fills the slab

Overlaid as best I could with Pixlr:

Some of the 86s are practically diamond shaped.

The 85 McGwire is a legit hard card to find centered. This ... is not one of them.

Being sold by the pwcc_vault... no surprise there

That case has seen a lot of action on the front lines. Looks pretty banged up. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a swap out. I think there's close to zero percent chance that PSA gave that card a 10.

Even if it wasn't trimmed, that centering does not deserve a 10. 70/30 top to bottom.

Besides the fact that the size doesn't meet the requirements. Do you guys not notice when you zoom in to the trimmed edge that the edge texture is different and also the very very faint line where the blade meets the cardboard. If you compare the edges you can see a difference right away.

I checked a couple other Vault listings...doesn't look like they include detailed descriptions on vault listing. I did see one with 1 of 3 POP or something like that.

The long circulatory life of notoriously altered cards in TPG holders should clue in collectors to the reality that TPGs simply don't want to accept responsibility for many of their most costly and obvious errors. We live in a distorted reality where the holder and flip have more value than the card. It's institutional sophistry. No lasting change will occur until collectors start rejecting overgraded/altered sh*t and stop patronizing the known criminals and other opportunists that peddle it.
