Goldin Winter Auction - Price Predictions

If anyone wants to dust off their crystal ball, curious your thoughts on final price (including Buyer's Premium) for a few select lots in Goldin's upcoming auction.

Here are a few that stick out to me:

1. 2017 Panini National Treasures "Stars & Stripes" Jersey Autograph (RPA) #161 Patrick Mahomes II - BGS 9.5

I believe (3) sold privately very recently, so will be interesting to see if and how much the seller left on the table

I struggled with this in comparing 2 vs. 3. I agree with you based on legacy/accomplishments alone, but condition is king, and wouldn't be surprised if a PSA 10 goes for 3-4x a BGS 8.5, so I'm not so sure LeBron outperforms Luka in this case

Take everything away from the cards.

03/04 Exquisite is a Top-5 set of all time. The other two sets are just carry overs from years past and not “significant” in and of themselves.

Now add that this is THE modern rookie card of Lebron James. It’s maybe the best patch I’ve ever seen on his RPA (memory doesn’t work as good as the past). If nothing else it’s in the top 5% of the issue.

Natural (unaltered) high grade Exquisite just don’t exist no matter what pop reports want you to believe. Even so, you’re not getting a better patch which in my eyes > than the grade long term. I’d take this patch on an 8.5 over a bland patch on a (likely altered) 9.5.

It’s not even so much comparing Lebron-Patty-Luka. Obviously no comparison, but the card is just levels above the others. Major levels above the others.

LeBron exquisite hasn’t sold in months, which is an eternity in this market. I would be surprised if it didn’t get $1M. Luka will get seven figures too.

Given the current price of PSA 10 Jordan Fleer RC, I think Lebron's RPA will end up above $1.5 million.

There's a PSA graded '84 Star Jordan in this auction also. That's cool to see in that slab.

Man, way too many grail cards coming out of the shadows all at once. This is a recipe for an over-supply and huge market correction.

Will we end up in the dreaded capitulation phase?

I kind of agree. There are TOO many great cards in that auction. I can't blame the sellers for flooding the market. Most of those cards have shot up 10-50x what they paid.

Can't wait to see the end price of the Exquisite Lebron. This card is rarely ever sold. I got a Carmelo so it'll be interesting to get an idea of how much the 03 Exquisite RCs sells for now.

Given that the second to last time it happened they claimed it was fixed as their provider had upgraded them to “unlimited” capacity - after which it predictably fell over again - I’d take the under.
(I replied to Ken in that thread advising him to change his provider (before it had fallen over again), as there is literally no such thing as “unlimited” in servers, and anyone selling you that is a liar or incompetent.)

Any concerns of alteration on the LeBron? Mainly regarding the patch.. it's pretty unique compared to the other copies I've seen.

The big boy is the Kobe BGS black label refractor with no greening. 1/2 in the pop it should outsell the LeBron. We shall see.
