Buyer sends me this today. He has good feedback but is putting me in a bad situation because there is nothing to do from my end. I was thinking about just bluffing and saying post office told me it was delivered and not updated on eBay and see where that leads to see if he is full of crap. As a seller there isn’t anything that usps is going to tell me and im basically just out on a $600 card Once he files a claim. Any input helps.

Use Fedex or UPS for anything above $500, that's the golden rule.
Unfortunately most sellers don't take that seriously until the problem happens. |

Yes, call the PO.
I had an Express mailed item stuck for a week in one place and now it looks stuck for another week doing nothing. Postage is such a pain and it's never been more expensive

what does the tracking say? if there is no activity on the tracking, you are stuck for now. sometimes signing up for email updates will jump start it.

So did it get delivered? If not, how are YOU in a bad situation?

It hasn’t been updated since the 9th. I sell a lot on eBay and about half of the messages I get from buyers are them looking for a way to save money from the purchase. Sometimes you have to bluff to see if they are for real Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It hasn’t been updated in weeks. Shortly buyer is going to open a case because he’ll be able to get a free card if it was delivered. I’m on the hook unfortunately for the post office’s fault of not updating tracking Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If it wasn’t, then he’s out a card and $600. Call the PO. I’m sure they have advanced tracking that shows exactly where the package is.

Yeah. I’m not trying to scam the buyer just want to make sure he doesn’t scam me. In the past every call I make to the post office goes to waste but I guess there aren’t really any other options to find out where it is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So you think lying to the buyer would improve this situation?

Have you tried filing a missing mail search on usps? It may at least get the attention of someone there.

You had insurance on it, correct? I'd start that process. Also open a missing mail claim on USPS's website if you haven't already - that has actually helped me with items at this stage of limbo... Requires some information but you can pull all of it from the order details on eBay.

I think seeing if he is legit could. If I send that and he stops replying them I know he is full of it. I’m just trying to make sure he doesn’t get the card and my money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

as a buyer, i would view it as the opposite. if i contacted you about an item not received and then got that reply from you, i would cut off off all communication and instantly open the case.

I’m just not sure what to do. I’ve had messages like this many times when the item only gets updated in a week after the buyer already filed a case and received a refund. I understand what you’re saying but there are just so many scumbags on eBay it puts me in a difficult situation as $600 is a lot of money to lose for something that’s not on me. E-mail USPS, or call them. 2 weeks is nothing because a lot of my recent buys on eBay is taking a minimum 1 week. One time, eBay took a month for 1 of my package to be delivered (2nd year D.Booker Prizm Auto). That was scary because that was a pretty hefty price tag. Recently, I had an eBay $1.50 that went for close to a month. It stopped somewhere, then it was returned back to me in 2.5 weeks because I need to pay more postage.
On my eBay, anything over $200 I do signature confirmation because I think USPS take care of those mail more carefully. |

I’m not worried about the card arriving. I’m in the same boat, many packages are taking up to a month now. Only problem is buyer can file a claim whenever they want and eBay will always side with them and deliver full refund Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Did you have insurance an the item? Ebay does not always side with sellers but if you cannot prove delivery what do you expect? Last edited by shrevecity; 04-23-2021 at 06:02 PM. |

That’s not how eBay works. But ok.

In this case you cannot prove it was delivered and lying will only backfire. Did you have insurance? Last edited by shrevecity; 04-23-2021 at 06:12 PM. |
