Default 2021 Marvel Legends Series Trading Cards (GameStop Exclusive Promotion)

Is anyone collecting the Marvel Legends Series trading cards that are an exclusive GameStop promotion? You get a free pack of four cards (3 base, 1 foil parallel) with qualifying purchases.

Upper Deck, the worldwide leader in premium sports and entertainment trading cards, memorabilia and collectibles, today announced an exclusive program with Hasbro Marvel Legends and GameStop, where customers receive an Upper Deck trading card pack as a gift with purchase of select Marvel Legends figures. The program will be available at participating GameStop U.S. locations and GameStop.com while supplies last.

The first wave kicks off this month, with both a special set of cards and Legends figures inspired by fan-favorite Marvel Villains. Three additional waves will be released through the end of the year including Iron Man comics and X-Men Age of Apocalypse themed card sets. Marvel Legends collectors will receive one pack for each qualifying purchase made in store or online during the promotional period, while supplies last. Fans can collect the entire 15 card base set for each themed set, as well as rare foil parallel cards featuring Villains like Thanos, Red Skull, Lady Deathstrike, Mephisto and more. Each 4-card foil pack includes three randomly inserted base cards and one foil parallel card, on average. The four trading card sets will feature a wide array of Marvel characters that are not indicative of current or upcoming Marvel Legends Series launches at GameStop.
Cardboard Connection has more info and a checklist for Wave 2, which is or was available starting late last month. No idea why Wave 1 didn't come first.

As much as I love oddball promotional trading card sets, this isn't one I'm going after. I don't collect action figures and don't have a GameStop near me. I see no mention of the cards on the GameStop website.

The packs are selling for $15-$20 apiece on eBay, which is way too expensive for just four cards.

At least this promotion makes more sense than the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trading cards packaged with Hanes underwear sold at Walmart back in 2017.

That’s crazy bc it’s almost the price of the figure at $20.

Wonder if it’s more an issue bc those buyers local stores are sold out?

Between packs and BAF parts you could make over all you money back and keep the figures!

I would bet that a majority of the people who got multiple packs did not purchase figures as well.

I looked locally and was not as fortunate as others. If the gamestop was following rules, you had to purchase a figure to get a pack. Apparently lots of locations had no idea what the promotion was and allowed customers to buy all the packs for $1 each without purchasing any figures.

I did wonder if sellers on eBay were really buying eight or ten figures to get eight or ten packs to then resell.

Also, I saw earlier that someone on eBay had a full 20-card Wave 2 base set listed for $50. I'm curious to know how many packs it takes to get all 20 base cards.

I've been collecting these recently. Trying to complete the full Wave 2 holo set - here are the ones that I have so far:

FYI, you can get a free pack with each purchase of select Marvel Legends action figures online at the GameStop website: https://www.gamestop.com/search/?pmi...velTradingCard

Buy five figures, get five packs free. All are Wave 2 packs. Still no sign of Wave 1 or any of the other waves.

A bunch of the $9.99 Marvel Legends Retro 3.75" figures are eligible. A few are even on sale. Some of the eligible $22.99 6" figures are on sale as well.
