Question about centering on this Luka silver

Hey guys,

Just received the grade back for my silver Luka and just looking for opinions. Obviously I’m not a grader, but I thought the centering on this Luka looked pretty good. Top to bottom it’s not perfect but it looked really good left to right. Just wondering what you guys think this graded on centering. I got the grade back yesterday (BGS) and it was lower than I figured. Thanks!

Everything else was 9.5 so it’s just really disappointing the card was nearly flawless minus centering. I think the centering grade was very harsh…but I could be wrong.

I think they usually look at the round indentations. Based on those I would have guessed an 8. Basically 3 on the left and 3 and quite a bit more on the right.

I really thought it was an 8.5 centering and would be a 9 overall I’ve seen others with worse centering that got 8.5 and 9.

7.5 on centering is garbage in my opinion. I swear I’ve seen a bunch of PSA 10s with worse centering.

I think what makes me the most upset is that everything else was a 9.5. So that 7.5 on centering just really killed me.

Should’ve sent to psa to begin with but I thought I’d get a psa 9 and it looked like I had an outside shot at a bgs 9.5 so I chose bgs.

Also sent a freshman Phenoms silver that got identical grades….seems crazy that both my Luka Prizm had the same grades..

Never ever ever ever send a 2018 prizm card to BGS. Since centering doesn't impact eye appeal PSA will basically treat every one of them as if they have 10 centering (unless it's pretty much miscut.) With BGS though since they're forced to give a centering grade you get ridiculous grades like that.

I sent an order of cards to psa and bgs at the same time last year. I should’ve sent these to psa but I didn’t. I’ll probably end up trying to cross them when I get them in hand.

If that’s not the sign psa is overpriced and grading is a joke what is.

This is absolutely false and I'm sure you know it. PSA is stricter right now with centering than they've ever been and they don't treat everything like it's a 10. So much misinformation on this board.

All grading is subjective but my issue is I don’t think this is a 7.5 centering. It’s not perfect but it should’ve been an 8.5 minimum I believe which would’ve given this card a 9 which i figured it would be. It’s all good either way I just think the 7.5 centering is harsh.

7.5 is harsh. BGS can be ridiculous on cards with less defined borders. I think they're thrown off by the dot pattern. Both sides have all three sets but the set on the right is offset left slightly. Otherwise, the centering looks to be better than 60/40 all around.
