My theory: I don't think he's signing that one for Topps. His agent (Rafa) has had that card for quite awhile, and was with George recently. He had George sign it for 'Rafa's PC'.

Can you imagine what could happen if Rafa tries to sell it one day?

Assuming his publicly released 1st autos are post-2020 releases, which at this point seems most likely, how would the market react to an unreleased "1st" auto?

Not quite the same scenario but there is an (unsigned) 2018 Bowman Chrome Wander Franco card listed here in the B/S/T forum.

Just found it...I can't imagine this would command a significant premium as an unautographed card it's essentially a prototype.

I saw some comments about getting it signed but considering how long prototype and "personal" cards have been around, I imagine player contracts have clauses about signing stuff not directly received from Topps.

Going back to Valera, given it's verifiable authenticity, I think it would command a premium, even if unauthorized.
