Yup, I also met my wife at a job 14 years ago.

Definitely an anomaly as most workplace relationships do not work out.

You have to gauge how the two people involved are. You admitted that you are bad at relationships, so getting with someone you work with may not be for you.

Worth a shot but my first interaction with someone new is never "lunch". Lunch is for friends or for people who already have a thing going.

Still, doesn't hurt to shoot your shot if you want to.

It’s all about gauging expectation.
Picture a worst case scenario of walking in Monday after a night of drunken fun. If you think either won’t have a problem laughing it off and moving on with a normal work relationship I’d certainly hit it.
As mentioned above actually maintaining a real relationship in the office is unlikely but not impossible.
Either way, having a good pulse about what both people’s expectations is key to deciding stuff like this in my experience.

We looked at going some other time, but with the schedule I'm working right now lunch was the best option.
