Default Best way to confirm something exists?

I've been trying for 4-5 years now to complete the 2009-10 SP Prestigious Pairings set. There's some cards on the checklist that I've never seen surface, is there a way to check if they even exist without having to buy subscriptions to some site?

The cards looks like this:

I have found evidence that Turris/Mueller is legit and out there somewhere. I have not, however, ever seen any of these 4 cards other than on the original checklist:

Pominville / Vanek
Kopitar / Smyth
Delvecchio / Lindsay
Brassard / Nash

PWCC use to be a place to see old ebay auctions but that doesn't appear to be the case anymore. How far back do places like worthpoint go? If I find Turris/Mueller is the set considered complete or is there always this unsolved mystery looming over it?

Why would they not exist?

Sometimes cards are put on the official checklist even if UD hasn't received the cards back at the time of the product release. They assume the players are good for it and know it will be signed eventually.

While in most cases they are correct and the card will be returned signed, sometimes cards aren't signed by one or both of the athletes for a variety of reasons (doesn't like signing, forgets, card is lost, player just keeps the cards), so they card on the checklist isn't actually released.

Do these dual auto cards sometimes surface with only one of the signatures on them?

What's the longest delay on a redemption auto you've seen? I put together the 2018 Topps Museum Archival set that is sans Buster Posey. What are the odds after 4 years of never being seen that they suddenly appear?

Have you tried contacting UD through social media or through customer service? I think they have checklists on their site which could be different.

I've tried contacting Topps and Poopini in the past regarding checklists and never got a response back. I have to wonder if these companies even keep very good track of their own sh.t

I also have to wonder if people even put sets together anymore. Anytime I'm talking to someone about doing an auto set they look at me like I'm speaking another language.

I would've tried Upper Deck. For real though, maybe reach out to one of their reps on social media

I emailed them from their website tonight, I don't have any social media accounts like myspace or facebook. Hopefully they respond, appreciate everyone's replies.

It's possible, but unlikely. I've seen dual autos with none or 1 signature on it, but it wasn't released on purpose. I wouldn't count on that happening if you're searching for a dual auto'd card that you haven't seen yet.

Have you checked the grading companies websites to see if any of them were ever graded? If every other card has some graded and there are 0 of these, I would guess they dont exist. Heck Topps has an entire set of wood 1/1 mini cards that were supposed to go into 2018 Ginter, Topps says they were packed out, and not a single one has ever been pulled. Also the entire run of Bowman chrome Red Carlos Correa /5 ended up backdoored and were never packed out.

This is great advice that I will be using to track my own missing puzzle pieces....

I did the night I made this thread. Not many have been graded for whatever reason, about half of the known set, and missing from the list of graded was the Turris/Mueller I thought to have existed. Going back through the interwebs I'm struggling to find any proof of the Turris/Mueller and don't remember why I thought it existed to begin with. Is there a way to access the old PWCC search page that use to be on their site? That has to be where I saw it originally.

Search site like here , SCF , Hobby insider for player collectors/Supercollector of Pominville , Kopitar , Nash , Vanek. If the card was made they will most likelly have it.

Look at the box break section also. A pairing search in any hockey hobby section of these site might give you info also.

What's SCF? Sorry for my ignorance, I was out of collecting for about 25 years.

I'm pretty sure philosophers are still wrestling with this question even after thousands of years.

Glad I'm not alone.

So that settles it, the Kyle Turris/Peter Mueller doesn't exist. Checked everywhere, no mention of it on break forums/sites or on google in general besides release checklists. I did notice they have a SP 2008-09 card auto together and that's what I must have seen awhile back when looking at PWCC history, someone could have listed it under the wrong year. I don't know who those two players are but I couldn't find any "supercollectors" for either guy. So once the Gordie/Mark Howe card is acquired (soon) I'm considering this set complete. Unless Upper Deck shocks me with an actual reply to my email inquiry. I'd like to thank everyone for their help and replies, I know it's annoying dealing with someone who knows so little about this stuff, I only followed hockey from about 85-95 so most of these players are unknowns to me. UD sucked me in by issuing an auto with Messier and Yzerman on the same card.

I would give some time for UD CS to confirm.

Looks like 26 cards in set and all are /100.

All of the above mentioned cards do exist but NOT the Kopitar/Smyth card.

Good Luck.

WHAT?!!!? HOW?!?!? Where do you see the other missing 3 cards in existence at?

This set is going to be the end of me. Scouring the internet tonight I discover yet another card I never knew was part of the set. Well, I find mention of a card said to be in the set, as usual I can find no proof of existence on ebay/google images/etc.

Collecting shouldn't be stressful.

Was wondering at first if 10/11 was the year they started to carry over unsign cards to past season ex (including 10/11 cards into 11/12 release) , looks like the Phaneuf/Weber awnser my question.

A lot of people gave up on Sign of times and other sp autentic auto set because of this. Expending or unclear checklist , unanounced SSP or dredded tier a,b,c,d.

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't have started some of the sets I had a few years back had I known information is so hard to come by. Especially the 2018-19 Decades Sign Of The Times. Not only did a bunch more come out for the set in the following seasons packs but they did the 2019-20 versions using the same exact design only confusing things further. Plus the carry over autos for 2018-19 never seem to have odds/tiers posted so I have no idea how hard each one is to come by. Will likely end up throwing in the towel on trying to complete it.
