I had an order pop last week and this card had a grade listed for it. I get the package back today and the card was returned like this. The orange sticker underneath the grade label says N9. Anyone know what happened here?
If it is N9, it would have no grade, right? The cert number shows a grade for this card. https://www.psacard.com/cert/75986107/psa From the PSA FAQs: Quote:

You get charged for the grade?

Contact customer service, something seems off about this.

Wonder if it got N9'ed in QA2 and they left the original label on the card saver by mistake. There was another thread last week with a Do Not Holder card that got slabbed.

I'm attempting to file a report through the PSA Customer Request Center, but I keep getting an error when I try to upload the picture (the file meets the requirements to upload). |

Other cards from that set have been graded and slabbed and if it was a miscut (too big), they'd use a slab without rails and put mylar on it. Make sure the file is not too big, too small and the right format and it should upload (maybe try a different browser?). Might take a week for them to get to it in the CS queue, but I'm sure they'll figure it out. You can't be charged and N9'ed on it...

PSA responded very quickly to my email. They sent me a prepaid shipping label to send the card back in.

PSA has been making a lot of mistakes like this lately.
Whatever steps PSA has in place to catch these issues is not working for some reason. I wonder how many CRC reviews and other "mistakes" they have to fix for free every month. All of the pre-paid return labels and time to fix all of the mistakes has to be adding up. |

I’ve seen more bad than good with psa since 2021 add to that a bunch of red flags and accusations which only tells me not to do business with them. I can only hope the grading market balances out where all collectors can choose the grader they feel most comfortable with for personal reasons or investment reasons

I'm at about five months on the review of an entire 20ish card order... it could always be worse.

Just a total guess, but is it possible that the card itself oddly doesn't have an official "Leaf Certified Autograph" (or words to that effect on the card)??
If so, the card could have been graded a PSA 8, but then without any certification of the auto, it perhaps got rejected for slabbing since it would need to officially certified by Leaf to pass? Again, just a total guess since I can't see the front or the back of the card. A front/back pic of the card might help check things out a bit, but again, this is just a guess.

Update on this:
I emailed PSA on the day I started this thread. They said the card should have been slabbed, and sent me a label to mail it back to them. That was over 3 months ago. I got a phone call from a lady with PSA today, and she said one of the autographs on the card was deemed questionable by DNA, and they would not slab it, and are mailing it back raw. I'm aware of the fake autograph scandal at Leaf, so the questionable autograph part is understandable. But I only paid for the card grade, and not the autograph grade. Does DNA look at every autograph, even if the card isn't getting an auto grade? Here's the scan of the card from PSA (I don't have a picture of the back available) ![]() |

And I was originally charged for this, so they're crediting my account for that amount.
The same order also had a Kawhi Leonard slab that came back cracked. The lady on the phone said that one was re-slabbed, but she pronounced his name like "Caw-he". Not relevant, but I thought it was funny. |

It's strange it went to PSA/DNA to check the autographs since you didn't do a dual grade, only the card grade. Because of some of the questions that have come up recently with Leaf autos, I wonder if they are now going to start checking all the big name autos?
But I'm really interested in which of the two autos they deemed questionable. Looking at Topps Harrison Ford autos, the H looks like it is formed differently on this Leaf card. |
