45 years old. Apparently he had been struggling for awhile.

Just awful

Even when he was a Bengal, he was still a Tiger. RIP!

Dude was beastly in the mid-aughts. Three straight 1,200 yard seasons I think?

sad, he had a few really good years in the NFL. If memory serves, he was part of some of the good Auburn teams back when they were a perennial top 25 team.

Johnson had three straight years in which he rushed for at least 1,300 yards and exactly 12 touchdowns from 2004-06, earning his lone Pro Bowl nod in 2004.

Mental health is real. Sad to see.

I remember him well he was a very solid back on awful Bengals teams. May he find eternal peace in his passing...

Wow. So sad. I had a mini collection of him. Too many players struggle after football. RIP Rudi.

How are you awful and still make the playoffs? Those teams were primetime TV and could’ve done some real damage in the playoffs if Carson Palmer didn’t blow out his knee in the first quarter. Are you confusing him with Corey Dillon?

They went 50-62 when he was in Cincinnati

He played in one playoff game in his career

Are you confused?

No, he's correct. It's the "what could've been" team with that 2005 Bengals group had Carson Palmer not gotten injured in that playoff game. From what I recall, that hit was likely the catalyst for change to protect the QB from lower body hits while in the pocket. Rudi Johnson was part of that team, 1458 yards and 12 TD's.

They played in one playoff game in the 7 years Rudi played in Cincinnati. They were not good. They were never good. He went to Detroit in 2008. Palmer got hurt in January of 2006. Rudi was basically done as a Bengal at that point for all intents and purposes

So now we’re just making stuff up and posting it?

Sounds good

Regardless those 2001 cards were fire

Yep, the Carson Palmer Rule who everyone seems to blame Brady for.

Kimo Von Olhoffen or something like that if I’m not mistaken.

He made the playoffs once he was long gone by the time Dalton was going one and done in the playoffs.

“They were never good” The 2005 Bengals went 11-5 and made the playoffs.

“Rudi was basically done as a Bengal at that point” He rushed for 1,458 yards that season along with 12 TDs. The following season he rushed for 1,309 yards and another 12 TDs.

I’m making stuff up? You are one of the most adversarial dickheads I’ve ever met by the way.

11-5 and making the playoffs is awful? The only time they were truly awful during his tenure was his rookie season when they went 2-14. But he was injured for the entire season and didn’t record a single carry.

Rudi Johnson. That's a name I haven't heard in a while. I was really into the 2001 NFL draft class when I was younger. The Bengals also had Chad Johnson & TJ Whosyoumama plus Justin Smith. Solid draft year.

Sad to hear about his apparent issues and about his untimely passing though.

Maybe but losing your Pro Bowl QB who led the league in passing TDs and completion percentage in the first quarter certainly isn’t ideal.
