I was thinking about dabbling in a sports card scanner to simplify scanning in singles. Today obviously taking pictures with my iPhone and posting is very time consuming. Has anyone had experience or luck with other scanners? Or is the Ricoh fi-8170 just worth it no matter what?
I appreciate any insights......

Some of the other research I've done since posting this brings up the Ricoh fi-8040 and the Epson ES-400 II.
I'm probably wanting to stay more budget friendly since I'm just starting out, but again looking for advise.

I went with the epson 400 at almost $300 cheaper and I love it. It was very easy to set up and while I am not using card dealer pro yet I have been able to list about 800 new listings on my own. |

Interesting........Yeah I don't picture myself being a 10,000+ card mega lister, probably more in the 500-1000 range, nothing at all that crazy.

Back in 2012 when I used to do Auctions mainly I could do 20 Items an hour it was the scanning and cropping that took the longest. This new scanner makes it so much easier. |

It took me way too long to realize my scanner had a custom setting—saved it and can scan singles with no cropping.

The last 4 years I started using my phone for piks, because of angles and zoom on everything. I may continue to do so with vintage, but this epson 400 ll is awesome.

Do both of them do toploaded cards? I'm thinking about maybe getting one, but would want to be able to keep them toploaded.

Also shipping in toploaders can cause issues. Have had fewer issues since I switched to Card Saver 1s after the first year of ESE being implemented. Also the scanners are really good at seeing flaws and scratches and toploaders to have those flaws. |

Are there any scanners which are good for scanning 9 pocket sheets filled with cards?

I'm still using the iPhone for pictures, then upload via USB to the laptop and crush the listings. Considering scanner option as well. It would save me some time but probably not a ton unless I could dump stacks of cards in one and get the images autosaved in seconds. Ironic I used to scan everything on a table scanner before going to camera and now starting to at least consider a feeder scanner. Full circle in a way.
