Default 2026 Topps Chrome Premier League

I was able to grab a few before they sold out, odd how really Topps did not announce this release a ton, but the Anime cards I am sure will be highly sought after.

$189.99 was the hobby price per box.

The anime cards are a complete joke. The Panini ones are cringe enough as it is, but these plumb the depths of laughably shite even further.

the whole set is to be fair.. beyond minimal effort, it looks cheap and nasty and the inserts are garish.

It's turd. Anyone paying big money for anything from this set isn't right in the head. It's only going to get worse if people still keep buying this like zombies.

It's not a good set, but I'll be after Fulham as usual. Will aim for a few Josh King at /25 or under and then a Dempsey/McBride dual. Still feel the price is too high though. The insers are nightmare stuff. The Heartbreaker? Crikey.

I don’t know who they have working on insert names and designs, but they need a complete rethink. Awful stuff.

It's really a shame they off'ed SCC. One of the last sets that consistently looked pretty dang good. You could see it starting to taper off with the 24/25 release but I still feel like SCC was the only set that gave me the feels of 17 chrome.

I really dont understand the decision to keep merlin and kill SCC.

Topps/Fanatics strike again!

“ In an effort to meet production deadlines and get Dowman into this product, his non-autographed cards were printed on foil board instead of Chrome.

For anyone who finds these rare cards and wants to exchange them, we will offer a 1-for-1 replacement for the Chrome version.

The autograph cards included in packs are Chrome as intended.”

I saw this on Soccercards HQ insta today:

"I do have the odds for EPL chrome so there will be a review later today. There's ~6400 hobby CASES, ~275,000 blasters, ~300,000 tin packs, ~1200 breakers delight CASES, ~83,000 Hangers and ~19,000 Logo fractor packs so yea safe to say there's enough of this to go around."

Welcome to junk wax part 2. Those numbers are INSANE for a single league product. Some of the prices being asked by breakers for PYP breaks are absolute insanity.

Yes, I got similar info, but my FAVORITE (U.S. spelling) is the fact every single base card has (wait for it).....

...3,389 parallels. PER CARD.

I watched a break. Best cards were an Estevao auto /25, case hit Bale (which was promptly cast aside), a Declan Rice SSP (although what does that even mean in this f'ing set)....and a DCL /5 (for the dirty Lids fan on this thread).

The autos were all average.

Crazy and worthless. I would anticipate the case value, if you don't hit an Estevao auto, to be about 25%.

The breaker exclaimed "We've opened 7 cases and no superfractor"

Yea, I saw that parallel count info too. Absolutely bonkers.

One of the main soccer breakers in the US put out a list of their top 10 rookie chases for the product. #2 is Max Dowman who apparently only has a total of 91 base cards and 91 autos, (so next to impossible to hit with this print run) and #1 is Estevao (with an "RC" logo on his card), who's ACTUAL RC was in 2023 Select a few years ago.

All these things considered, it seems this product has no backbone to prop it up for any notable amount of time. What are the speculators (er...."prospectors") chasing? Especially considering that we're about to get flooded with WC and other product in the coming months.

Id be shocked if these boxes were not well under $200 on the secondary market in a few months time.

The speculators are idiots following influencers who know next to nothing about soccer....

These boxes should have been under $100 at release.....

Like everything else Fanatics is presumably holding back a huge portion of the print run trying to create the impression of scarcity and artificial FOMO to hold the price up.

Interesting threads on Reddit about how rare even the base Max Dowman card is. 1:16,257 hobby packs and 186 total Dowman cards (base + parallels) produced across the entire product. Just nuts. Have any people who have been around a while seen something like this before?

I guess it's because it was a rush job by fanatics to include him in the product since they needed SOMETHING to try to prop it up for the gamblers. Not only that, supposedly they are also printed on paper stock despite having the Topps Chrome logo on them. I guess Topps will exchange them for the actual chrome version if customers request.

This news is still not shared actively by breakers who are charging huge $$ for the Dowman spot despite it being nearly impossible to hit.

Cant make this #@#@#@#@ up.

(Re: Frozenfractor, I agree it's just another parallel that pumps the print run. Note how they have the true color AND the color wave for basically every variant now. It's bonkers. (That said, as a Chelsea and Cole Palmer fan.....I would not mind having one of those. But certainly not for the 4 figures they will undoubtedly command)

Default PL Chrome break

Watched another break yesterday.

The main story was that "customers" i.e. these speculators are PISSED.

I don't blame them. The Dowman issue is a big one, but this was also a "Breaker's Delight" product, so 6 packs, of around 15 cards.

So, maybe 90 cards in a case, and a case retails around $879

The was a Cantona auto /10, and THREE (count them) Hudson Odoi autos.
A Saka case hit, couple of other half decent cards.

Oh, sorry, did I say case. I meant a BOX. So a case of this sh*t is north of $5,000...

There are 300+ spots, so even the odds of hitting one card is limited.

The should be pissed....at themselves.

It's not exactly a secret that 90% of what Fanatics releases these days is overpriced s**t.

While I agree with much of the hate this product is receiving here.. the one upside is the physical quality of the cards themselves. Feels like they’re on much better stock than UCC chrome stock of last 2 years. Not quite as nice as older Merlin and chrome, but a step closer

hahaha. Nicer card stock! Lol. that is hilarious. Can you imagine "I dropped huge money on this case, didnt hit anything, but it's all good because I have a whole bunch of worthless cards BUT THEY ARE ON thicker stock!"

To be honest, it seems Fanatics cant see the forrest thru the trees. Do they not realize the long term viability of this trajectory is not sustainable. Do they have no awareness of the junk wax era? Man, if I was a breaker or card shop getting strong armed by Fanatics just so I can get some allocation and see the path they are traveling, Id jump off that ship pretty quickly.
