2026 Topps Series 1 Hobby Boxes (2) w/Ohtani HFA

I still like to make a base set of Topps flagship 1, 2, and Update each year so I ordered two 2026 Series 1 Hobby Boxes to get started. These arrived Friday, but I finally got to the post office today.

From the first Hobby box, there was a Jhostynxon Garcia RC Green Auto /99 in the Silver pack and an Ohtani HFA in the regular packs.
The "hit" was a City Connect jersey card of Trey Sweeney. There was also a Gold Foil card to /399.

The 2nd box had a base-only Silver pack and the "hit" was a Ronald Acuna 1991 Bat relic card.
There was a Gold Parallel to /2026 and another Gold Foil to /399, so not great, but the first box made up for it.

Haven't sorted the base yet, but hopefully it gets me pretty close to a set. I do have one Jumbo box still incoming, so that'll probably be it on Series 1 unless Costco gets some of those Flagship super boxes, which I like opening.

Those two hobby boxes between them included around 275 of the 350 base cards, so not great, but not bad.

I also opened a Jumbo box, which held 306 of the 350 cards, but with 51 dupes, so there's no good reason why Topps couldn't have put a full base set in that $200+ box.

Even worse, when I combined them all together I still had only 331 different cards. That means 19 base cards didn't show up in a group of 2 hobby boxes AND a jumbo. Good luck to anyone trying to make a base set from 2 hobbies or a jumbo or even a combination of both, as in my case.

On the upside, all of this was paid for (with a little extra) from just two cards since I got $500 for the Ohtani HFA and another $50+ for Jhostynxon Garcia Silver pack auto, which literally came out of the first two packs I opened from this product, the Garcia being in the silver pack in the first hobby box I opened which also had the Ohtani HFA in it. Prolly shoulda stopped there, haha.

Here's the best cards from the Jumbo box. I did get the old promise of 1 auto and 2 relics, despite Topps shrinkflating that this year to 1 and 1.
