hey guys, just curious on what everyones take is on whether or not to keep the plastic film on the cards or not. I just bought this for my piazza PC.
the coating is pretty scratched up which you cant really see from the scan. kind of annoying me. i dont ever plan to sell this off so im not worried about the value, but just curious what everyone else would do or have done with the coating, especially when its not perfect. |

If you don't ever plan to sell it, and the coating is annoying you...remove it.
Its pretty fun to remove the coating, I did this on all my crappy, worthless finest basketball cards from back in the day. You want to remove it, you aren't concerned about selling it, and now you know its fun to remove the coating on top of all that. 100% remove.

i have a bunch of mickey mantle finest from 1996 i think, keep it on there, i think it looks cool. i peeled all but one of mine, the 1952 is still intact. the birth of chrome cards was an awesome time to be collecting. the covering brings me back to when i was 13.

yea im really torn on this lol. i want to keep it because i sort of like the idea of it but this coating is pretty beat up. ive always been anti-peeling, im trying to just accept it.
would you guys be less inclined to buy a card that has a peel removed? just curious since ive always preferred the coating on. |

I would buy a card with the film peeled as long as the surface still looks good.

Unless there is damage to the coating I would probably vote to leave it in it's original condition. With that said, I love the look of the cards after they have been peeled.

You forgot to show the one with coating still on it that sold on 11/2 for $52. Now that means I could argue that it sell for more without the coating

I'd be careful with peeling from my experience, especially since you bought it on the secondary market and don't know how it was stored. The adhesive on those peels weren't meant to be kept on long term and if it's been exposed to heat, peeling it off could actually just expose a really damaged card surface. I've peeled a few for kicks and some of the surfaces were beautiful, some came out streaked and awful. If you can live with the scratches, I vote leave it. If u can't - good luck with the peel; it is kinda fun to do
