Default Something for all you COMC sellers to think about.

Some of us dont have accounts on COMC , but we do purchase cards through paypal on there. I have no way of contacting you or making an offer on a card because I dont have a standard account. Some of you should think about this before posting outrageous prices and just listening to offers.

fixed that for ya, straightshooter....

i have been on that site once, and i am unsure what you're talking about but it does not seem that serious. people who use that site have nothing but good things to say about it, and rightly so, because people from here buy stuff there all the time. it may very well be the best site for selling your cards, i will find out soon as i am readying a package to send in with over 1000 cards.

food for thought - people can name their own price, you don't like it, don't buy it, and nobody could care less. YOU dont even have an account!

I usually just wait for my price on COMC. Get your own COMC account if you want to make an offer.

And yeah, I want full book value on Montoya, they are worth it!

The name on your Paypal account is irrelevant. You can add funds with a credit card. You should sort by lowest price first so you can find those bargains you're looking for. You can't contact the seller which is frustrating but makes sense. Who wants to field low-ball offers all day? You can offer 50% off and most people do. That is why the prices are inflated in some cases. They have book price listed above the selling price so you can see if the discount % if any. Also the lowest priced card is the one pictured and gets the most attention. The Amazon connection has increased prices though...I believe Amazon has an auto accept for offers of 20% off. Just my 2 cents. Get an account Shooter - you'll enjoy it.

i always have cards higher than what i expect to sell them for, it gives a lot of room to accept offers when they are around ebay prices, which in most cases is what i ll accept for those cards. if they sell for the asking price, then good for me!!!

Personally, I will always offer 20% of the asking price, figuring that if they were listed on amazon the seller is going to automatically take the 20% hit. It is worth your time to get the account, and fund it with a cc.

I've always considered this fair because if I was selling I'd hope to hit the listed price, but if someone was to combine a few into an offer I'd give them a break just as I would on BO. And as I buyer I automatically try to get the lowest price I can, so as long as I get a seller who doesn't overvalue his stuff and works with me, even just with a counter-offer, I'm happy. That's why I always try to buy a few from one seller, so I'm more likely to get a discount. My only pet peeve is when someone lists something near, at, or more than full book, because it makes it much harder to make a reasonable offer on it. Other than that, COMC has been great for me.

another tidbit on COMC i learned....

you can not make an offer less than 50% of asking price so if someone has an outrageous asking price, say a card sells for 100, and their asking price is 300. the lowest offer you could send would be 150 --- fyi for people with outrageous prices on things as to why you may or may not get any offers on it. BUT this also works in your favor if you do not want offers on the card less than set amount just set your asking price double that.

Dude it takes a total of 30 seconds to register. They also ask tough questions like "username?" "password?" and I'll be damned if I know what my email address is.

I just signed up. Never knew about this site, I found some cards I need for sets and some of the prices are ridiculous but whatever. Gonna add some funds next week and start making offers.

You have it backwards, The serious buyers will take the time to make an account, so this is more of a notice to potential buyers to make an account in order to send offers.

If you didn't know about COMC you might not be aware of sportlots either, and that's a great site for picking up set fillers at reasonable costs with shipping, while COMC is excellent for finding good prices on hits and inserts. I've definitely used both to take out a huge chunk of my set wantlists going all the way back to 1996.

I just learned about sportlots about a week ago from another member. Glad I have these resources now. Thanks!

If you don't like a price, do not buy it.

I've purchased from sportlots a few times...always great prices and they have a ton of cards (but ship from the seller rather than from the company like COMC).

However, after looking at thier seller fees, I'm amazed that anyone can make any money selling set fillers there...at the minimum price of $.18/card (which most base sets are listed at), a seller has to sell over 8000 cards a month to get down to a 15% fee structure...its definately a site aimed at selling volume which means the prices are rock bottom...the only cards you won't find there are the real hits that sell for hundreds on ebay...
