Was Strasburg Bowman Chrome regular cards selling for $30? Lin's common RC's are. Common stuff that you get in one box. I'd say Lin because he went from not selling to selling for $100+

I'll say Lin, only because Stras was supposed to be a once in a lifetime prospect while Lin came from nowhere(relatively speaking).

i think strasburgmania is still the reigning champ

#2 is the linsanity - not involved at all, but judging from what i've seen.
#3 is harperhype

#4 would be (matt) mooresplosion

Strasburg mania wasn't much of a surprise.

my point exactly, even his cards were on the news. when the strasburg super sold it was like band-wagon central and everyone wanted a ride. i went into work and people were asking me if i had strasburg cards to sell them, and they know practically nothing about cards, just that i had them. and when i was at the baltimore national in 2010, there was a line from one side of the building to the entrance. i figured they must be waiting for a signing with hank aaron, nope.... strasburg heritage cards /999.

but as i stated earlier, i know relatively nothing of lin, besides what i see on tv, and i don't watch tv all that much.

I sold 2 Strasburg base chromes on ebay for 48.00 each! I made almost 100 bucks on 2 base cards. I think with Strasburg, even people who werent into sports were buying those "investments". Basketball just doesnt have the following as baseball or football. It has a huge following dont get me wrong. It just doesnt have the nostalgia baseball does to say, me, my dad, grandfather, and great grandfather. I used myself as an example, not as the standard.

Strasburgs plain jane bowman chrome hit mid 40s a pop for a day. The superfractor went for what, 20K or something?

Purely from a cards standpoint, Jeremy Lin has had easily the biggest % increase than anyone else in quite a long time! It's important to remember that Strasburg's items were always relatively high, way prior to him getting called up.

I also think that, news-wise, Jeremy Lin has had more hype built around him. So many people who do not follow sports know about Lin. To a degree, that was true about Strasburg as well but not nearly as much as I've seen with Jeremy Lin lately.

Personally, I think the Strasburg mania was actually warranted to a large degree, while I largely disagree in terms of Lin's hype.

I think Lin has been much bigger than strasburg personally

alot of it has to do with him playing in New York, and its also more of a suprise factor this guy came out of nowhere and was sleeping on his brothers couch

meanwhile strasburg was a highly touted prospect

Lin's RCs were VERY affordable at one point. Now they're not. Strasburg's cards were untouchable right from the word go. Lin wins!

I think it depends on if you are looking at it from a hobby perspective or an overall sports perspective. Linsanity is much more of a mainstream sports hype whereas stras is more of a hobby thing.

LIN'S 2010/11 Panini National Treasures #'d 99 - Went from a $5-20 card on the first week of Jan. It's over $2000-$3000 Now that is SICK. Think of the people that sold those cards. i would be sick for days..

It's Lin and it isn't even close.

Strasburg was a US story - Lin is worldwide.

Strasburg, by far. There was a lot more buildup into Strasburg-Mania, which went on for a looong time. His cards were anticipated, where Lin's were already out before people went nuts.

You're comparing a few weeks of "Linsanity" to months and months of "Strasmania."

Well I guess it depends on what the OP meant - which went longer or which has a "higher" top level "mania"

Because you are right that Strasburg was longer - but Lin is by far higher.

Strasburg mania had a fever pitch to it. Nobody is relating to Jeremy Lin as God or a savior of the NBA. Like dd316 said, Strasburg mania came and lasted. Its not certain whether Linsanity will last for very long past this season. Strasburg Mania will return this spring.

Lin for sure, strasburg might have had more hype had the injury not happened so quickly, but Lin is seriously everywhere!!! ebay front page, on espn every time i turn it on, even on my freaking msn homepage, even in the freaking Tribune Review(Pittsburgh area Paper) I feel like I cant get away from this guy.....strasburg was not advertised that much and the prices for lin cards are seriously ridiculous....he has that forgein market interest though which strasburg obv did not so that is a big help.

I think Strasburg in the US, Lin worldwide. Keep in mind while Lin has created a stir for the Knicks and has been the focus of the media, the NBA was a dying product and this is the exact boost they needed to exploit to get fans back into arenas and in front of the tvs to save a dying brand. I think if Lin can keep playing as exciting as he has and somehow the Knicks get in the playoffs (highly unlikely) it will continue, but in reality they hype will die down come playoffs which right around when Strasburg will heat up again.
