Default WOW Can't believe this message I got from a buyer! Refund offered & Negative Feedback

Ok, before I start I want to warn everybody that this is a long (yet entertaining) read.

I thought I'd share this story with all the other seller on eBay. I sold this card:

MICHAEL JORDAN 1998-99 SKYBOX PREMIUM 3D SUPER RARE INSERT **CHICAGO BULLS** | eBay

in the auction you notice that I stated all cards are in NRMT-MINT condition or better unless stated in the auction.

I get this message from this buyer:

"HI MY NAME IS TERRY AND I JUST RECEIVED THE 98-99 SKYBOX 3D M. JORDAN IN THE MAIL TODAY AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEND IT BACK FOR A REFUND. THE CARD IS PERFECT ON THE FRONT OF THE CARD BUT THE BACK OF THE CARD HAS ALL FOUR CORNERS WITH WHITE TIP TOUCHES. I WISH YOU WOULD HAVE PROVIDED A PICTURE OF THE BACK SIDE OF THE CARD IN YOUR LISTING. COULD YOU PLEASE SEND ME THE ADDRESS YOU WISH ME TO SEND THE CARD BACK TOO. THANKS TERRY"

So I respond:

"Dear whatyouneed58,

Hi

Quick questionns...were you expecting a PSA 10 or BGS 9.5 when you purchased this card? Because I clearly stated in the auction that this card is at least in NRMT-MINT condition which is a PSA 8/BGS 8. Don't you honestly think it will grade at least that? Just to confirm I looked through the listing and it did not say anything about this card being Mint-Gem Mint.

Please advise on what I did wrong here so I can contact my eBay specialist rep and go over options.

"THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS NO.
NOW I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU. WHY DID YOU NOT LIST A PICTURE OF THE BACK SIDE OF YOUR CARD? I CAN TELL YOU WHY. YOU KNEW IF YOU DID LIST A PICTURE OF THE BACK SIDE OF YOUR CARD YOU WOULD HAVE NEVER RECEIVED THE PRICE THAT YOU GOT FOR THE CARD PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
SO WITH THAT KNOWLEDGE OF YOU KNOWING, YOU OBVIOUSLY WERE HIDING THE POOR SIDE OF THE CARD TO BETTER YOUR CHANCES OF GETTING A BETTER PRICE.

IF YOU READ IN ANY BECKETT MAGAZINE (BASEBALL, FOOTBALL, OR BASKETBALL) YOU WILL SEE THAT IF THE CARD HAS TIP TOUCHES ON "ALL" 4 CORNERS OF THE CARD THE BEST GRADE THE CARD WOULD RECEIVE IS A 6 OR A 7.
YOUR CARD WILL "NOT" GRADE AN 8 FROM ANY GRADER BECAUSE OF THE FOUR BAD CORNERS ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE CARD.
TO RECEIVE A GRADE OF 8 AND I QUOTE FROM THE BECKETT, "A SLIGHT TOUCH OF WEAR ON "ONE" CORNER, " END QUOTE. PLEASE READ IT FOR YOURSELF.
NEXT! YOUR LISTING SAID YOU HAVE A 14 DAY RETURN POLICY.
I WISH TO RETURN THE CARD TO YOU. SO COULD YOU PLEASE SEND ME THE RETURN ADDRESS YOU WANT ME TO SEND YOUR CARD BACK TO YOU FOR A FULL REFUND. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING, TERRY"

I write back:

Terry:

WHY DO YOU TYPE EVERYTHING IN CAPS?!?!?!?!

First, I hardly ever scan the back of the card. There is no need and I have never had a problem until now. I'm an eBay Gold Powerseller/Top Rated Seller so I feel that I'm doing something right. Correct?

BGS 6 or 7? LOL Ok whatever Terry. I just got back 90 BGS 9.5's out of 118 cards submitted. I think I know what I'm doing and a pretty good idea what cards will grade out.

Ship it back I do have a 14 day return policy so once the card comes back and as long as its in the same condition I shipped it to you in I will refund you in full.

Anyways he ships the card back and its delivered to my PO Box today (which I haven't picked up yet) and he leaves me a negative feedback:

"SELLER DOES NOT DISCLOSE DESCRIPTION FULLY SAYS HE DOES NOT HAVE TO; BUT"

I can't believe it..my first negative feedback in a long time! I just can't believe some people. Anyways sorry for the long read...I wanted to share with all the members of blowout to becareful of this buyer.

And don't laugh at the bolded with him talking about his collection because you kind of did the same thing when you said you have 90 9.5.

What does being an Architectural Engineer and typing in caps have to do with anything? And why the phuck do so many people write "then" when it clearly should be "than"? Maybe I should become an Architectural Engineer so I can boast about my prehistoric card collection worth $500,000.

a word to the wise....... never argue with people like this, you will "NEVER WIN"..........

you should have said "No Problem, I'm Sorry For The Mixup, Please Return It For A Full Refund"........

he was going to return it no matter what you did, the arguing is what got you the negative, you have to approach it the way they have it setup, the system is against you, you absolutely have to treat it that way when dealing with customers.

I understand it might be alot of money at stake, but that shouldn't be the case, money exchanging back & forth should never make you feel some type of way about a sale.

on your current auctions you offer returns, so he's allowed to return it for no reason at all if he likes.

Ummmm, isn't this why there's a 14 day return policy? The bottom line is, customer was not happy and asked for a refund. I don't see the problem. Price of doing business. Stop being such a baby.

being a powerseller and threatning to call your "ebay specialist" isnt very good customer service. i dont know either of you but im wondering why you wouldnt just take the card back? he politely asked for your address?

yeah you can;t argue with guys like that. I just cruised his feedback and this is clearly one card he spent the most $$ on (in that $500,000 collection). He is buying 8 dollar graded 10 topps cards.

I think he might have got cold feet but with ebays 14day return policy nothing to debate

While the buyer sounds like a dick, you didn't show any restraint at all. I know it sucks, but with eBay's return policy, you need to take it with a smile and a possible negative.

Honestly...why should I give him back his money?!?! Even if I know there is a good chance I'm going to lose I should at least put up a fight. Nowadays sellers give up too easily and just refund. If I did that in the past I would've lost $500 on a PSA 10 Tom Brady 2000 UD Graded card I sold. Buyer had buyers remorse on and requested a refund. A simple phone call to eBay and I was able to keep the money and the buyer could not file a dispute against me for buyers remorse.. I'm sure a few of you remember that thread.

In a fairness I didn't do anything wrong. Card is what it is and in the condition stated. Just like Wheeler said...he probably got cold feet.
