Suggs won't miss any time with torn biceps, Lewis went on DL for 5-6 weeks with torn triceps...

Suggs may just have tears and not be fully torn.

Suggs went to Ball So Hard U, Lewis did not. Clearly this is the reason.

Tricep is used most when pushing. It also makes up 2/3rds of the muscles in one's arm.

Linebacker Ray Lewis, meanwhile, practiced Wednesday just seven weeks after having surgery to repair his torn triceps.

Barring a setback, Lewis could return to the lineup for next week's home game against Denver, a source has told ESPN. The game against the Broncos will figure prominently in determining which team might receive home-field advantage and a first-round playoff bye

Adrian Wilson played all season last year with a torn biceps. It's not a fun injury to play with, but it's doable. Torn triceps, as folks have posted here, is another animal entirely.

triceps also has little redundancy for elbow extension, whereas there are other (weak) elbow flexors and supinators. Without knowing anything about what happened to Suggs, I'm assuming he had a tear of one of the two proximal heads. We generally only acutely go after the distal biceps tears surgically*, whereas you can be fine and functional without only one proximal attachment. Sure, it's not optimal, but it can be fixed later with little downside from delayed surgical intervention.

* Rules are different for professional athletes, this is just a generalization for the vast majority of patients
