Default New guy from Central NY

Hi everyone. Steve here from the Fingerlakes area in NY. Not sure what happened when I registered, but it's supposed to be Ceegar, not Cegegar Oh well. I was a very small time dealer back in the late 80's-early 90's where I did a bunch of card shows selling/buying/trading basketball, baseball and football as strictly a hobby. Around the mid 1990's I gave it up, throwing everything I had into a closet and that's where it has sat since.

I recently started picking up some autographed items to display in my newly decorated office here in the house, along with some auto baseballs and a few auto bats I've had, and my Shaq and Kobe auto balls. The new 2012 Topps Chrome football sparked my interest in cards again, so I did my first break in nearly 20 years the other day with what I think was a pretty good Walmart break on a couple of Chrome FB blasters, which I plan on posting. And then my enthusiasm was crushed today by a terrible break on some Absolute that has me turned off from buying anything new - or at least anymore Absolute blasters.

A lot has changed over the years, and the jury is still out on all these brands flooding the markets with their cards, variations, parallels, autos, etc etc. I'm seeing people on eBay spending hundreds, even thousands of dollars on rookie cards of players who haven't accomplished a thing yet. It's crazy.

Anyways, it's great to read all of the other member's posts - learning a lot about how this hobby has changed so much in the last 15 years or so - good stuff!

Welcome aboard the Blowout train. You definitely seem like you know a thing or two, so you should enjoy it here. Folks spending big bucks on wax is a definite. It is crazy how much the game has changed since a couple decades ago.

Glad to have you!
Generally looking for BGS-graded autographs of Andrew Benintendi from Topps/Bowman products
