Default Panini replacement makes me happy

I know Upper Deck and Panini get a lot of grief for some of the replacements they send out for redemptions that never end up being signed, but Panini deserves some credit for this one. Back in September I opened a box of 11-12 Elite and pulled a redemption card for a Prime Numbers Signatures auto of Ilya Kovalchuk numbered out of 60. I'm not a Kovalchuk fan (not that I dislike him, just don't really care one way or the other) and his cards don't sell particularly well, but I figured I'd redeem it anyway.

I actually forgot about it, and I when went into my Panini account to redeem another redemption I saw that it was still open, so I figured I'd call them and see what they could do. So I called customer service (they answered after only a few rings) and explained the situation. They asked if I had any particular team in mind, and I of course said the Penguins.

Well, a couple weeks later, I got this in the mail: a 2011-12 Titanium Game Worn Gear Prime Autograph of Kris Letang numbered #8/25. So I got a card from a better product, with lower numbering, and of a player I actually care about. Well played, Panini, well played.

Yeah, definitely a better card. Not sure if you're keeping that for the PC, but you could flip that make some good $, his cards sell pretty well.

I've had a positive experience with Panini, too.

Last year I redeemed a dozen Robin Lehner Dominion rookies. Unfortunately Lehner lost the cards, and they were not reproduced. They sent me replacements that I didn't like, so I contacted them about it. They had me send them back, and replaced them instead with other Lehner stuff for my collection.

I've got to give them credit, they seem to be doing a nice job with customer service in many cases.
