Should be very interesting...It isn't going to make me a Nets fan, but I'd be excited if I was one

Bold move by the Nets, yet somehow I look forward to it.
Pretty exciting!

Risky, but I love it. Expect huge years from Deron and his backup Tyshawn!

Very bold move, who knows if it will work. Very surprised a team that thought they were contenders would do that

PR stunt without a doubt

Not saying he can't be a great coach but hell he just put his shoes on the shelf a few months ago

I hope he excels and destroys all expectations

I would imagine very good. They are good friends off of the court and I think Deron will take in everything that Kidd says to him.

49 wins with two meh coaches last year and a meh coaching staff....this team is talented enough to get through any of coach kidd's growing pains. JKIDD WELCOME HOME!

Only time will tell. Jason is a smart guy, lets see how it translates on the court. Many PG/SG's have made the transition well as a coach. Avery Johnson, Mo Cheeks, Nate McMillan, Doc Rivers, Vinny Del Negro, Byron Scott, Scott Skiles, etc.

Meh is being polite about PJC. Jason's rotations can't possibly be worse than PJ's. Plus Kidd saw the Nets scouting report last season, so hopefully he realizes that Reg has limitations and is NOT a starter.

I thought they were interested in him being an assistant coach. Head coach seems a bit soon since he has no coaching experience, but it might work out for the Nets. Problem is most coaches lose their jobs in the NBA so fast he might not be given a chance to get his feet wet at coaching.

He will be OK as long as he loads his bench up with experienced assistants. He definitely needs a good Defensive mind to help him out.

One of the best basketball minds but really doesnt guaranteed that the team will be able to follow his system.
Magic played this and failed.
The nets needed a lift, this is a gift.
Anyway, only time will tell, hoping that he could turn around the nets franchise.

I think this is both stupid and solely a publicity stunt. Kidd was a great player and captain, but being a coach is something completely different. You also need to consider the fact that he just got a DUI, Kidd needs to grow as an assistant coach before being a head coach, no matter how many quality coaches he has surrounding him.

Nobody has a clue how good J-Kidd will be as a coach, except former teammates / coaches who saw his intelligence, communication, etc. every day ...

All of us fans are just speculating / guessing how he'll do - If they hired him, I think he'll do a good job though - Unlike most coaches, he'll also have "inside scouting reports" on most players from playing the last few years that could come in handy during timeouts, preparation, etc.

Where do you get that he's a smart guy?

In terms of the game of basketball? I'd say one of the best point guards in league history has a mind for this kind of thing. However, this move is the glitzy one, probably not the smartest one.

I think the Nets needed to get the best coach, not the biggest name

It will be interesting to see how this plays out; a bit risky by the nets.
