Default Awesome card...... Sad story

Well, this is going to be rough.

My dad just passed away last week unexpectedly. He was a very avid card collector and the reason why I got into collecting in the first place. I stopped collecting for a little bit after my best cards were stolen many years ago. After I found out my dad had cancer about 3 years ago I started collecting again as another way to take to him more.

He was cleared of cancer 1 and 1/2 yrs ago and everything was supposed to be all good. He never really recovered from the chemo and his main artery was damaged. After he had surgery to have a stint put in he had some complications and as a result he is no longer with us. (long story short) (thanks for listening to me)

Anyway I have acquired his collection of about 250,000 cards. Some autos and game used. Mostly he was old school and loved putting sets together.

The card below is the best card I could ever have in my collection that he and I talked about a lot but I never actually saw it, as it was hidden in his collection.

Looking for Derek Jeter!!! RE2PECT
Penny sleeve ---> top loader ----> team bag ----> bubble mailer
If you don't ship in a bubble mailer w/ TRACKING CONFIRMATION I do not want to buy/trade with you.

That's rough. I feel you're pain brother. My Dad is going through chemo too. Save a bunch of those precious cards, something to remember him by.

Sad, but at least cards brought you closer in a way and thats really what matters here. You have something to remember him by with that. Hope all goes well for you in the future.

Sorry to hear this, but be glad you got to share a hobby with your father. Normally I might turn to my baseball cards for a little solace in tough times, but you might want to take a step back from them for awhile. In the long run you will be so glad you have that collection.

Stay physically active ... go fishing, shoot a round of golf, whatever you enjoy outdoors, would be my advice.

Sad to hear it. My dad's on the slow way out via a coma, so I can relate. Hope all gets better on your end soon.
